One of the greats in my opinion, this and Planet earth and you're set.

Paddle to the Sea (small wooden boat followed by director about 1000 m from northern Canada to eastern seaboard through great lakes and rivers)

Waterwalker (an hour and a half of awesome footage, he lived outdoors to make it and one of Canada's best guitarist does a killer soundtrack, reinvented wilderness canoing)

Rise and fall of the Great Lakes (award winning very creative short film)

Cry of the Wild (he lived with the wolves for this one)

PAth of the Paddle (four short films about how to canoe)

To get or simply to watch these inspired films go to the Canada National Film Board. Hes a national treasure up here and worth at least a glance. Please post if you know anything similar out there.
