Screw that set up a live online draft for an evening. Then everyone rank their players and those that can draft live  . alright I can just rank them if I must damn you guys :?
That's definately my preference Robley no doubt. Once I send out the invites I'm gonna ask what days and times work best for everyone. If there is a majority for a specific day then online live it is my friend..

This is gonna be redonkulous ...Here are a few of my random thoughts on this for what it's worth.
Buy In:
-Either 12 guys at $50 a piece and get a couple more sought after vinyls like a Lost Dogs/Riot Act combo or a Binaural/No Code combo, something crazy.
-Or if we wanted to get real nutty and everyone was down, we could all throw $75 and try to get a Benny for $900.
-Prizes should definitely be shit that if you already have it, you won't mind cause it will trade well.
Draft:
-I think preference has got to be pick a weekend night that is either late evening for a time zone and early evening for another time zone but still after normal work hours (I know some people have crazy shifts, but it might be best to try and find what works for the most amount of people or is more common). If people can't make it they set an auto draft ranking.
-I also had an oddball idea of just doing the draft over this thread over a couple weeks. Would be difficult, drawn out and it would suck to pick a team this long before Opening Day especially with injuries and shit. Timmy could just post a draft order of the 12 teams and everyone try to pick at least 4-5 players a day, could even do this a week before the draft if people were committed to it. This would be tough but is an idea.
-Worst case scenario we all set pre-rankings and let it auto draft. My vote is to avoid this as much as possible though.
I've only played fantasy baseball once a few years back but am a football die hard. This should be fun.
By the way, Will Clark is the man. 80's MLB was definitely the best. I'm more of Joe Carter, Cory Snyder type guy myself though.

Great ideas I'm down for whatever but being a novice I like $50 & grabbing 2 or 3 vinyls with winnings.
Also I don't mind Tim setting up the draft order after he has the league set up. What we can do is just post our picks on the league message board based on draft order. That way we don't beat the folks down on the forum.

I think this is going to be awesome. Some thoughts:
1. Everybody pays up front. First 12 to pay receive invites and get in. Whoever winds up running this league isn't going to want to try to track down people's dues come September (especially if they haven't paid and are out of the running).
2. 12 people at $100 each would be enough for a Benny for first prize, Lost Dogs for second, and Binaural for third. With enough scratch leftover for some door prizes for everyone else for playing.
3. Funds should go to the most talented/trusted scrounger of the league. That person will then be in charge of finding the prizes, at good prices, and using up the remaining cash on oddball prizes.
4. A live draft would be best, but only if a time can be found that works for everyone. Message board drafts tend to last forever, and become confusing (exp: someone drafting a player that's already been taken, no one noticing for 2 days). Auto draft isn't as much fun, but at least everyone's on a level playing field.
5. Scoring setting should be pretty standard. Probably whatever yahoo recommends for head-to-head leagues.
6. Playoffs should be 6 teams, with the top 2 teams receiving first round byes.
Sorry if I'm sticking my nose in here. I got really excited reading all the posts, and I think this can be a ton of fun for everyone involved.

Here's what I think.....with all the people that aren't familiar with fantasy baseball would not be right be expensive....not saying they don't have a chance because depending on the draft will make or break you.....I'm just saying $100 is steep when they don't have experience....now if it was football I'd be all for it cause everyone knows that....I just feel that people who never played will just donate.... I just want of to be fun for all!

I agree. I can handle $50 at the end of the season, but $100 up front for something I've never done before...I would have to pass.
As for accountability, there's always a chance that someone would flake out....but I seriously doubt that would happen here.
I'd be fine with a lower buy-in, I just got really excited with the thought of a Benny for the grand prize...
