The whole US primary system has to be the dumbest way to pick a candidate out there. It seems to me that all it is, is just months and months of people from the same party trying to appeal to their hardcore base (and people from a specific state, and only them) while at the same time attacking each other for every damn thing. And at the same time with all the news coverage it gets, the regular undecided no-party voter gets to see it all even though none of it is aimed at him or her. Obama must be laughing at the whole thing, when ever his advisors come to him and say they need to work on their campaign, they probably just go watch a movie or something, at let the republican candidates bash each other.
Now I kind of get why maybe 100 years ago the primary system worked when you had to travel from state to state by train, and you could only hit like one or two states at a time so you did your campaigning like that in order to meet delegates. But considering how fast communication is today and how everything one of these dudes gets covered nationally, why can't all the primaries take place on the same day?0 -

Almost 700,000 Voted for Obama in the unopposed Ohio Democratic Primary, with only Congressional primaries or other assorted elections on the ballot.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Good point. I think back in the day some "party leaders" chose the nominees at the conventions, and the campaigning started after that. At least 2008 taught people that Iowa and New Hampshire don't have the exclusive right to pick the nominees.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25
