tambourines, sticks & picks....

anyone ever get hurt from an attempt to catch a flying tambourine, drumstick or guitar pick? i cringe evertime i see something getting thrown into the crowd, i guess because i'm a mom and i don't want to see people get hurt :)
and i do know that being in the crowd is an "at your own risk" adventure....i totally understand that part... ;)

ed hurled a tambourine into the crowd at GR and it landed about 10 feet to my left - the crowd that surged to catch it was surreal....arms, legs flailing..people up off the ground then falling back down into a locked row of chairs that was being moved with ease from the crush of people....it was a tad bit frightening at the potential for injury....but the smile of excitement on the face of the dude who ended up with it was priceless....

    Back in 2003 in Buffalo a tamborine landed about a row back of us
    and 7 or 8 seats away. One guy grabbed it and some fucking
    dipshit who got the idea that Ed was actually throwing it
    to him because he must have had a vision that only he was
    to receive the golden musical instrument latched on to the
    thing like a baby calf suckling on her mother's tat and ripped
    it from the poor guys hands that had it first.

    I'm sure the guy now has a scar or 2 to remind him of
    that unfortunate incident and I'll bet if he ever gets
    another shot he will make sure he leads with his elbows.
