She's an idiot. The whole thing is a huge drama scene, written well in advance.
  • She's not an idiot, she is a pretty well spoken grad school student with some very firm views about private health insurance.

What was written in advance was the silly "she has so much sex" and "using my tax dollars."

Those very firm views include forcing insurance companies to pay for sex reassignment surgery. This is more than just a testimony on contraceptives, this is a calculated assault on the entire health insurance industry and employers. It's a push towards the government telling the entire industry what it can do or not do, regardless of costs to either the insurance companies, the employers, or the insured.

I could possibly be open to requiring birth control (the pill) to be covered simply because there are health benefits other than the not getting pregnant part. However to cover what might be the most ELECTIVE surgery something that companies should be forced to provide is rediculous, and for that opinion I feel she is an idiot.
  • I think it's funny that a Ron Paul supporter is calling someone an idiot.

    But I digress.

The whole hysteria about "the pill" being covered by private insurance is just more diversionary bullshit from a bunch of crotchety old whiners who get upset that women aren't barefoot and chained to a stove.

They have no ideas that will work in the real world so instead they throw fits about illegal immigration taking away jobs (that no American citizens will do) and gay marriage (which doesn't affect them in any way) or women being single and having sex.

Call us back when you have something that matters to throw a tantrum about.

    why is that funny?

I gather you are implying that ron paul supporters are idiots, am I wrong?

I am glad she spoke her views, I am sad that she is getting attacked needlessly by a blowhard caricature.

what is wrong with simply having an adult conversation about the issue...I just don't understand why that is so hard

The fact is Rush did her a favor. I mean because of him, someone here thinks she's a Hero.. No, no. Wait. An AMERICAN Hero.

That's funny. Rush is a dunce. This woman is a nothing. Move along. Neither of them are helping their side of the debate. They are BOTH characitures at this point.

But, glad she used up her 15 minutes. Seems it could have been better spent. But, to each her own.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

I'm calling Ron Paul an idiot and his whiney little crybaby of a son, too.

If you want to extend that to his followers, I guess the "lie down with dogs, get fleas" argument fits.

I agree here, but I thought birth control pills/contraceptives were covered under 'prescriptions' for those who have insurance. :?

whatever, you are entitled to your opinion, but I certainly am not an idiot. I would venture to guess most of Paul's supporters have a much better understanding of the issues facing the nation than most.
I am certainly curious, what makes him an idiot?

It's amazing with all the problems this country faces, we can totally get off-track and focus our attention on relatively minor social issues.

The politicians have us figured out.

I think she is a smart lovely lady but way to left for me, she considers not the effect of
    her demands on others.

In my opinion she lost good common sense with not being able to compromise,
in wanting contraceptives covered for all.... mandated by the government.
Mandated coverage for all no matter the reason and paid for by someone else
no matter if that will diminish someone else's rights.

I am tired of the tug of war between the left and right with the give an inch take a mile
and I'm really tired of this big government and one that is setting mandates, removing
    our freedoms.

the cost of my birth control pills were applied to my deductible 25 fucking years ago (pre HMO days)
how can this still be an issue
    are we going backwards
i'm guessing condom expense is what is so expensive now?
is that what we're all afraid of paying
    condoms?
    prenatal care
    delivery
and maternity leave are all considered eligible medical expenses
    so
we're paying women to have babies
and that will cost more than some condoms
fuck 'em if they can't take a joke

i think she knew that people on the right were going to attack her, just not to the extent that limbaugh did. to me it takes courage to stand up for what you think is right knowing you will be attacked for it.

to me, this is just like how being a whistleblower is heroic. those people stand up and expose things in the face of opposition and they end up being punished for it in the end.

hopefully limbaugh will continue to lose advertisers. its about time his big mouth is coming back to hurt him just a little.

What will it take to get him shut down? That's what I want to see. So far, 48 sponsors have pulled out.
