I'm sure this has already been discussed, but I was just listening to my E-Town bootleg and realized Ed said something about how they were here in Nov. 1991, and it was one of their first Canadian shows. As far as I know, the first time they were through here was summer '93. But maybe we're missing something. Anyone have a clue about this or was ol' EV mixing up his tour stats?

Yeah interesting point. At the '93 show Ed told the crowd it was great to be back in Edmonton, then followed it up by saying they had never been here before. Sooo I asked the guy at Blackbird Myoozik (when it was next to Highlevel) and he said he never knew of PJ coming through Edmonton prior - he did know and have the gig sheet for Nirvana in early '89 or '90 though. I think its just a mixup on Ed's part regarding the reference...... :?:

99.9% sure it's Ed talking out his ass again :D Just an excuse to mention that it was his first time drinking Canadian beer...we love it when people talk up our beer or our hockey team...or talk down anything Calgary-related.
There is no listing in the setlist archives, no mention in the PJ20 book...can't find any listing of them having played here back then (would have been at the Dinwoodie or the Bronx back then)...
    Didn't happen.
If he was thinking of a "first Canadian beer' experience...it was probably in Vancouver - I think they played there as Mookie Blaylock. Or one of the first shows as PJ...pretty sure it was in the movie/book.
  • Yeah, that's kinda what I'm thinking :) They definitely never played Dinwoodie (I worked there sometime ago and picked my old managers brain about that one). He was probably just getting a good one on and mixing up his facts.

Mervin, were you there in '93? If you ever want to see that Nirvana poster, they have a laminated one up at Southside Sound. It was at the Bronx, Unsound opened for them.

Yeah I`ve seen the poster. Pretty cool when you think about it. Man I loved (un)sound back in the day. Still have their cassette tapes!
