I am completely computer stupid also, and have also had this happen to me a few times. Are they burned cds? Sometimes those are pains in the asses and in the wrong format or something and don't like to recognize, but an obvious answer might be to restart your computer, because sometimes they just spazz out. Also, I've had that same thing happen, where the light is on and I can hear the machine running, but nothing happens, and what I always do is close the program, itunes in my case and put the cd in without any music playing programs running, and a program automatically should pop up and ask what you want to do with the cd. That always works for me. Anyway, if that doesn't work, sorry. I am not tech savvy either :) It seems like if the light's on and you can hear it hum, that it's probably the CD and not your computer though.

Thanks for the reply first of all....but no they aren't burnt cds....they're all my Pj cds that I've bought recently.....I've tried everything I could including restarting....I tried installing an AntiVirus program and nothing happens when I try that as well!! It's bugging me having a bunch of awesome cds and I can't put them on my ipod!!

That is weird. Is it just your PJ cds that won't work?

The drive always worked...I put over 400 or 500 cd on my itunes.....haven't used it for awile and now it doesent work...I tried putting a security system into it and it wouldn't read that as well....its frustrating!

I'm not an expert, but it sounds like somehow your drives have simply been disabled (maybe an accident from a software download, a virus, etc.). I would try to restore your computer to a previous restore point. If the drives used to work, this should fix the problem as long as you go back far enough to a restore point where the drives were enabled. Hope that helps
