I saw them in Philly last night, thanks to a free ticket from my buddy. I CAN NOT BELIEVE how awesome the show was. I had pretty low expectations, and have a MUCH GREATER respect for Axl and his band of misfits after that show. Really.

So, you have not seen them live, yet you take the time to drop this here? Musically, the original band members were all replaceable, but Axl (despite his ridiculous antics over the past 15+ years) was nailing every song. Sure Slash is an icon, but he really isn't anything special as a guitarist, and Ron Thal is about as talented a guitarist as there is in any band today. They are SOLID live, and I would highly recommend anyone who enjoys ROCK music to go see them if you can!
P.S. They played for 3 hours with only a 3 minute "break". INCREDIBLE.
+1.....couldn't agree more....saw them a week ago in Detroit and was VERY pleasantly surprised by Axl....he seemed genuinely happy to be performing and was interacting with the crowd throughout the show, bringing a surprising amount of energy in the process...blew any expectations i had (and they were low) right out of the water!

None of that is true, even in the slightest.
They weren't great at Reading Festival 2010 though.
