Report: 4 hurt in Ohio high school shooting

At least four students were injured in a shooting Monday morning at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, according to Cleveland television station WKYC.

Authorities say the alleged gunman is in custody.

According to WKBN.com, police scanner traffic is reporting three victims are in critical condition and one is stable. Medical helicopters are converging on the Walmart in Chardon, where a landing zone has been set up.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported the shooting happened in the cafeteria, according to a waiting parent, Jessica Bryant, whose daughter had seen it and sent her a text message.

Another parent, Jeannette Roth, said her son told her the shooting happened while students were eating breakfast and waiting for first period. She told the paper a student "stood up and started shooting, and then it was chaos." Nearly 1,200 students attend Chardon High School.

Students fled and locked themselves in classrooms for safety.

Civil deputy Erin Knife, of the Geauga County Sheriff's Office, says the shooting was reported around 7:30 a.m.

Schools in the area are locked down.

Chardon is located about 30 miles east of Cleveland.

I seriously doubt it...more likely scenario is that when he starts shooting other with guns would fire back increasing the chances of more carnage...guns should be left in the hands of professionals...imo.

And if that's really how Nugent thinks then he is expecting 1000 kids to be responsible. Has he ever thought of what would happen when 2 or more got into an argument/fight? at that point none involved would be thinking straight.

Then we'd have 100 kids shot rather than 3.

What we should do to stop this, I don't know...but This certainly is not it.

A previous poster asks... where is the resource officer? Valid question, but I doubt that a resource officer could have stopped or shortened this. If the kid pops up and begins shooting, first of all, the officer has to dodge the bullets as well...and I'm sure it came as a complete surprise. Maybe in looking back, some might say...well, that makes sense..this kid was this or that...but what could he or she have done to stop this? I think not much, if anything. Sadly.
