Pearl Jam or otherwise. Go!

While we have the gift of life, it seems to me the only tragedy is to allow part of us to die - whether it is our spirit, our creativity or our glorious uniqueness.-Gilda Radner

    "My brain's a good brain!"
  • Basically all of Vs. That is one of my favorite workout albums. Also State of Love and Trust is another great one to work out to.

Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, STP's No. 4, Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream, and Jane's Addiction's Strays are other good workout albums for me. I basically like to keep it as uptempo as possible.

When it comes to modern bands I like listen to a few songs by the Vines, the Hives, and Wolfmother too while working out.

  • I'm a runner, and finding running music is tricky because I want to run to the beat, if I can possibly do so - nothing gets you up those hills better than sticking to a rhythm provided by a song with a good beat. Great running music (most recordings seem to fall within my running cadence range):

    Pearl Jam:
Do the Evolution (my favorite running song ever, by any band - need a live version though - the studio version is too slow. Which is fine with me as the live versions are all better.)
    I Am Mine
    Arms Aloft (from Lo10L especially)
Even Flow (this song has been in every running play list/tape I've made since late 1991/early 1992  )
    Down
    Undone
    Animal
    Crown of Thorns
    Force of Nature
Crazy Mary (some versions - depends how consistent the rhythm stays - my preference is Benaroya).

    Best of the Rest:
No Excuses - Alice in Chains (Jar of Flies)
Got Me Wrong - Alice In Chains (Unplugged version is best)
Heave Beside You - Alice in Chains (Unplugged)
Over Now - Alice in Chains (Unplugged)
Black Gives Way to Blue - Alice in Chains (cool-down walking - nice and mellow)

    Awful - Hole (great beat!)

Waitin' on a Sunny Day - Bruce Springsteen (The Rising)
Gypsy Biker - Bruce Springsteen (Magic)
I'll Work For Your Love - Bruce Springsteen (Magic)

    Brand New Day - Sting
Every Little Thing She Does is Magic - The Police

The Show Must Go On - Queen
  • Whipping is my sit up song, MFC, Severed Hand and Unthought Known are good ways to start off a run.

“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

I know this is weird, but... the theme song to Perfect Strangers. I don't know what it is, but it comes on and I get a tiny bit more spring in my workout and it makes me smile, lol! The only reason I found that out was because someone put it on my mp3 player as a joke! Jokes on them I guess??
