so....I ask myself,if the US is pumping crude oil of it's own and refining it to gas then why do we let the oil companies sell it to china while we Americans are paying upwards of $4 a gallon ? and now Obama is going to step up(to save his re-election) and now talk about gas prices...nothing is free and nothing in government is as it should be (right he still stands ?)...win lose or draw I think I vote for that Santorim fella.
btw I would gladly pay $5 a gallon to see Obama not be re-elected....kinda.

i'm not sure what you're asking... are you saying government should determine what customers my business can sell our product to? i thought you were a republican... asking for the government to direct a company's sales and marketing department isn't exactly a free market ideal.Godfather. wrote:and now Obama is going to step up(to save his re-election) and now talk about gas prices...nothing is free and nothing in government is as it should be (right he still stands ?)...win lose or draw I think I vote for that Santorim fella.

well, ok. go vote for the guy that believes that the boogy man is destroying America, that universities are filled with people who are possessed by satan, and believes birth control is "infanticide." :roll:Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. not to mention wants to now end programs he voted for because they were cool at the time, No child left behind etc...he is also dead set against Planned Parent hood, calls funding them funding abortion, but voted to fund them time and again...the guy is a phony. don't believe it Godfather....if you support the principles he stands on that is one thing...just remember they will change with the wind when he is in office like he has done many times before...history repeats itself, and Santorum will compromise his beliefs again. Candidates all have positives and negatives, yet I am having a hard time finding Santorum's positives
and yeah, what HHS said...the gov't should not be forcing anyone to sell their product anywhere with respect to sanctions I suppose. We may want cheap gas, but that won't make it so. remember, the last time Gas was $4.00 a gallon a barrel of oil was ~$140 USD...now it is $106 and gas is about 3.60 on average...you figure it out, because i can't.that’s right! there's plenty of oil... it is just market speculation (Iran) and cartels keeping supply choked off and prices high. i think that's obvious.Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.0

Yeah, you can vote for Santorum...and he might just go WASTE another trillion dollars getting TONS of Americans killed in Iran, while he hides in the a closet drinking tea because Satan is patrolling the halls of the white house. That will be good for our economy.
I will personally come to your house and beg you not to vote for this clown. Well, ok, not really, but i'll beg you over the internet.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -

but that explanation seems all too simple.
Gas prices and oil prices never really seem to jive though. I know people buy commodities when the dollar begins to lose its value...like oil futures, silver, gold...it is a safe bet... If today oil trades at 106 a barrel and gas that comes from those refined barrels prices out at 3.60 a gallon...well then why was it 4.00 on average with much higher oil prices 4 years ago. cost of a barrel today is similar to the price in 08 when gas was ~$0.25 cheaper. So is that extra 25 simply because of more speculation? it seems to me that if oil hits 150 a barrel again on the market we are looking at 5-6 dollar gas almost 25% higher in 4 years...supply doesn't seem to have anything to do with Gas prices...this seems like the dollar losing its value to me. Am i wrong here? can anyone explain this to me a little better
I really don't understand the futures market as much as I would like. Anyone have any books detailing futures trading? I get so lost when I do a simple internet search to find any. The knowledge gained from that type of thing is simply cursorythat’s right! Can’t we all just get together and focus on our real enemies: monogamous gays and stem cells… - Ned Flanders

you got it brother, vote changed ! I'm really confused on why this country would allow gas or any other resorce we have to be shipped over seas and make the American public pay more and more. I can see selling over seas but why not limit it to help keep some sort of affordabilty here ? I might be a bit old fashioned but I believe that if a compamy/corp makes its money selling our resorces or produce a product in America they must have some responsibilty to the american people, how much is gas in the middle east ?..I think about .70 a gallon, not sure but does this make sense to you guys or am I off the track a bit ?.

i don't really know why the price of gas is out of whack with the price of oil. if it was due to the dollar losing its value (inflation) then the price of oil would be that much higher as well.
the price of oil is going up because of the geopolitical tension in Iran. There is plenty of supply with Libya oil coming back online and with consumption forecasts continuing to fall. this tension is all being created by the US and other Western powers who insist that Iran doesn't have a right to develop nuclear power and suggest that they're building bombs.
market traders see the tension building up and buy oil, and i think once that is not factored into the market any longer the supply/demand fundamentals will bring oil back down.Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. Well, you have to remember...Barack Obama wants nothing more than the middle class to prosper. That's why he shut down attempts to build the Keystone pipeline and buy oil from Canada, thus creating thousands of jobs, lowering prices, easing political tensions, and easing American dependency on foreign oil. Because he cares about you.Bristow, VA (5/13/10)0
