Back in early 2010 it was announced that Oliver Stone would be directing a massive special documentary series for Showtime called "The Untold History of the United States". It would chronicle nothing less than the entire 20th century, from the election of McKinley to the present day, and would seek to probe the "untold" or forgotten evolution of the American national security state leading to the rise of what is effectively the American Empire.

10 episodes, 1 hr each on Showtime. (Has this aired already?)
-

"We're going to educate our minds and liberalize them and broaden them. We want to move beyond opinions ... Go into the funding of the Nazi party. How many American corporations were involved, from GM through IBM. Hitler is just a man who could have easily been assassinated," Stone said.

Sounds interesting. But I'm sure the books will remain better. :D

    Thanks,

I think the title 'The Secret History of the United States' is another name it's going by, or maybe it's a different series altogether? I searched and found these articles, Apparently the series was completed and Oliver Stone was promoting it last year.

    (a couple articles)

interestingly enough, some calls for the show to be canceled, apparently It was suppose to air last January according to the article (below), Dunno what the follow up of this is.

Just started watching this. The first episode wasn't bad - some interesting info. I do wonder if he should have narrated the thing himself though, as his voice is a bit flat, and becomes a bit annoying after a while. There's a reason why certain people are often chosen to narrate these types of films. Peter Coyote is one very good narrator that springs to mind.

I've yet to watch any episodes,

I notice that YouTube has some up, also a bunch of interviews with Oliver Stone about the series and other political/historical stuff.

I'm currently watching this one. (Democracy Now) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO-Y8wNwbuA

Just started watching it too(on blu-ray), I sooooo agree about Oliver stones voice being a bit too flat for being a good narrator.

Not too impresssed with the series yet, but I'm only a little over an hr in, I'll chip away at the rest for the next couple of weeks.

It's actually not too bad. But his voice just drones. And he completely white-washes the Israel-Palestinian issue..
