(I searched and read all the info I could find about last night's show, but didn't uncover anyone talking about this.)

What a treat if you there! I would love to know some specifics about Ed & Jeff's performance of Forever Young last night.

Was it guitar and bass? Did Ed play harmonica? Was the song prefaced with any kind of 'happy birthday' message?

What was the style of the song like? Was it a folk ballad like on Bob's Planet Waves or was it more jangly like the [Continued] version on the same record?

Any lyrical changes or nuances? Screw-ups or delightful moments?

Please fill me in. I'm excited they chose to play this song and I want to know more about it.

Thanks.

    tough to memorialize...

I'm not familiar with the Dylan orginal..

It was Ed with his strap-on harmionica and accoustic
.. Jeff was on stand-up base...

It was dedicated to all the recent graduates in the area..

    Very emotional rendition..

Thanks for the attempt, but that link won't work for me unless I am logged in as your boyfriend. I need the true URL instead of his navigation path, if you understand.

Please try again because I would love to hear the clip!

Thanks to those who have contributed so far. Keep it going...

I couldn't believe they played a Rod Stewart song...i'm hoping they bust out Maggie May tonight....sweet.

Yes, dual dedication for Bob's 65th b-day and the recent grads... Of course, not missing a chance to swig his wine, Eddie toasted to him...

Not completely familiar with the lyrics so can't sayif he strayed or was faithful, but it was a folksy, slow version... Ed and Jeff both seated on stools...

They added chairs for Stone and Mike for Masters and there for a moment I thought we might get another full size acoustic set like Mansfield... That'd been sweet...

I love Dylan and know the song well. Ed on accoustic guitar and harmonica with Jeff on stand-up bass. Very cool surprise--dedicated to Bob's 65th birthday and the recent college grads. Ed started by saying that this is a special night and we are gonna get a song they have not done before (or something like that) Cool, mellow version of the song. No mistakes that I can tell, Ed seemed to nail the lyrics. Good stuff..

Followed by a great version of MOW....a mini-Dylanfest of sorts....

Now if Bruce shows up tonight, then I'll be in heaven

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
    And climb on every rung,
    May you stay forever young,
    Forever young, forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
    May you always be courageous,
    Stand upright and be strong,
    May you stay forever young,
    Forever young, forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
    May you stay forever young,
    Forever young, forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

eddie only sang the first and last verse, just like the last waltz video version of the song. jeff was on this awesome cello lookin thing. the version was not very great, i guess a treat considering they have never covered it, but it wasnt anything special...i was hoping eddie was gonna belt out the chorus like bob does on the last waltz but he didn't.

ed did fuck up a word in the lyrics and when the song was over he slammd down his notebook....i think he messed up the "may your heart" part of the song...

Yeah....I need some help. When I see "Forever Young", I think about Rod Stewart and a Pampers commercial. :/
