If you're a teenager living in North Carolina and make an offensive Facebook post, your dad may shoot your laptop. In Zimbabwe, you can apparently get caned. According to Technology Zimbabwe, a 17-year-old from the southern African country was found guilty of "criminal insult" for posting a picture of a woman on Facebook with a caption that called her a prostitute. The woman informed law enforcement, and a magistrate sentenced the boy to two lashes with a cane. The teen unsuccessfully pleaded for leniency by claiming that he was brand new to social networking.

    I'm all for caning people who use facebook. double caning for people who tweet ;)

    I was reading about this, the skin won't be torn or leave scars. Only heavy rattan will do that, and only a couple of countries (Zimbabwe not among them) use heavy rattan, and I don't think 2 strokes would do that. I think that's when they really lay into a person with a lot of strokes. Zimbabwe uses light rattan, and he'll likely get some bruising at worst. Your old man taking you over the knee with his belt is probably more extreme than what this dude will get. Not saying I agree with it, but this isn't going to tear his ass to shreds or scar him.

    I'm telling you, people are idiots. Why would you post a picture of someone and call them a prostitute?

    And anyone who doesn't think that employers are looking at employee's facebook pages, they're NUTS. So don't go posting drunk pictures/half naked pictures of yourself and don't go slamming the organization you work for because people are watching.

    It's common sense.

    The Get Wet Girls pulled me on stage at a stag party.
    They unbuckled my pants, removed my belt, and had me lay on my stomach.
    They than proceeded to pull down my pants ang gave me about 10 lashes on my ass with the belt.
    I let them do it for a laugh, but for the next week it felt like I had a terrible sun burn on my ass :cry:
    This guy gettting caned better hope it is not the Get Wet Girls doing the caning.
