That's too bad. I first got turned on to MC5 through The Presidents Of The United States Of America's great (albeit lyrically different) cover of Kick Out The Jams from their debut album back in '95, and have been what I guess you could call a "casual fan" ever since. I only own the debut live album "Kick Out The Jams". Great bass player though, the bass was always my favorite part of MC5 songs.

Real sad news, MC5 well underrated band, lucky enough to have seen DKT/MC5 twice, 1st time with Sun Ra at the Royal Festival hall in 2005 2nd at camden underworld just after his bike accident (still got my signed ticket and 'I Like Mike' badge his wife gave us to cheer him up) and even without steven tyner and sonic smith, they kicked arse.

classic bass intro to ' Looking at you' and you gotta love shakin street.

Wherever you are man, you know it time to' kick out the JAMS' Motherfucker.

    RIP
