I am wondering if it's worth buying. The $250 is not an issue. Just wondering if it's worth all the hype and will it be awesome? A lot of other ppl seem to think so but I figured I'd see what you guys think.

I think it looks pretty badass! I'm probably gonna get one. I travel a lot for work and it would be ideal!
    Powerful little gadget!

From what I've read, don't bother with the 3G version...just get the wifi.

I think the iPhone has killed mobile gaming. Nintendo even failed.

I think Nintendo failed because of the 3DS itself, the initial price....which they dropped like a month later, and the lack of marketing. I think mobile gaming is only for a niche of people anymore. I happen to fall into that niche. :)
  • Nintendo only failed at launch. It has since put up huge numbers now that they have games people actually want to play on it.

I am getting a Vita solely for MLB The Show. The launch lineup is probably the best of any console or handheld in the last 10+ years and is only lacking an RPG. I did pick up Hot Shots Golf to hold me over until The Show comes out because even though the games are great, I simply don't have but so much time to dedicate to handheld gaming and The Show will eat that up easily.

Yeah, the launch game line-up is impressive! Maybe Sony learned a few things from the PS3 release! :D

Oh, and yeah....The Show '12 is a must own!

I saw an article on IGN.com today that there are about 10 games on the PSN where if you own them, you get them for free on the Vita. I think that is pretty cool!!
  • The Show is one of the first games on the list that stood out to me and i will definitely be getting. I am also interested in getting some of those old school PS games. I moved on to Xbox 10 years ago and so i havent been able to play the original Crash Bandicoot and Crash 2. Games like that is another big reason that i want to purchase the Vita.

I think it's going to be great, but I probably won't get one. It's definitely enticing simply because I play MLB The Show almost exclusively. The fact that you can save your game files from the PS3 and vice versa to continue playing your franchise or RTTS is awesome.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

I had it preordered, second guessed myself and cancelled.

I went with a Nintendo 3ds. The Vita just seems too close to a console. That kind of stuff I like on the big TV with good sound. I also mainly use my XBox, not ps3. When I play a handheld, I think I would like quicker, lighter hearted games.

The price was also a bit of a turn-off. I got the Nintendo at about 1/2 the price.

Well, after a few weeks with the Nintendo 3ds and after purchasing a number of games... I think I am going to trade it all in/sell it all on ebay or something.... and going with the Vita. I will take a bath on this, but I am not too impressed with the 3ds. I also want to give The Show a shot.

What about it don't you like?

the games are sucky. The catalog of old games is way underwhelming and is mostly gameboy games. I was expecting numerous NES games. All I see really is Excitebike 3d and Super Mario Bros.

Mario Kart is fun, but gets old. Zelda Ocarina of time is a good game. Oregon Trail is completely redone and sucks. Metal Gear Solid is unplayable. I cant tell what is going on.

Im not a fan of the controls, nor the fact that you switch from a stylus to controls on the fly.

There are a few interesting little parlor tricks that come with it like these AR Card games where monsters come out of your kitchen table and you fight them, and your face attacks you from throughout your surroundings and you fend it off... and a 3d camera. But they arent really great once you use them or show for the first time.

The 3d is good... but you can fall out of line and see double a little easy.

FYI - PS One Classics that are playable on other devices are currently not available to be played on Vita yet but according to Sony they will be available "soon"

How do you like the Vita so far? What game(s) did you get?
  • MayDay10MayDay10 Posts: 11,672
I ordered it off amazon so I should get it tomorrow or Saturday. I got uncharted coming with it, then the show on Tuesday. I decided to commission my ps3 at long last and I got the show for that as well. I have been itching to check that game out.

The nintendo 3ds was a dumb move. I can't really get into the cartoony games, especially since im more of a solo player. And like I said, the old school games were extremely limited and very overpriced.... when I can get them all on my phone for nothing.
