I'm surpirsed he didn't do it sooner with the size of his posse, which I think included just about everyone from his hometown of Hampton Va. It's tough to support a neighborhood.

THAT didnt include endorsemet money or any other "earned" income. It should ber a requirement that these guys attend and pass some kind of money management course BEFORE the sign their first contract.

I will say tough, with the kind of talent these guys have , their egos must be lower than dirt to have to pay for company like they do with their "posses"

The NBA has this big rookie symposium thing before the rookies play that tries to teach them about money management and all the other stuff that comes along with having all the fortune and fame that comes with playing in the NBA. The NFL does something similar too.

well good. Personally dont give two shits about guys that have it all and blow it. But its good that an attempt is made to help them be personally repsonsible.

they helped someone somewhere by going through a lot of money. the bling makers, real estate markets, car dealerships, yacht makers, clothing lines, high dollar escorts, and in some cases crack cocaine distributors

the cycle of wealth goes on and on and on

the yacht builders have families and put their kids thru school. the jewelers have lives and families and the same kinda shit, same as the real estate folks and the fashion industry people and the cardealership folks and the cocaine smugglers and farmers... the ones getting screwed over the most are the coke leaf farmers in central and south america

    god bless wealthy sports fuckers

And it seems like they want to keep living that way when they are done playing and the HUGE paychecks start coming in.

I think some professional teams do require some of this. My ex played for the Oakland Raiders and I know he had to go through some kind of financial counseling...it was not extensive, though, and it's not a given that it would help!

What absolutely blows my mind, is that the NBA and NFL force these people to go through the college system prior to entering the professional leagues... and what the fuck do they learn in college??? Nothing... in fact, they learn less than nothing, they learn that professional athletes get treated like gods...

Why not make these guys learn financial basics while they're being forced into school? Why wait until they enter the pros when the money and fame is already going to their heads? Why not get rid of the joke degrees that they take and give them some real world training??

I mean if you're not going to teach these kids anything in college, don't send them there. It's just eating up scholarship funding and grants for no reason... Clearly their not learning anything and they're taking up resources from kids who actually want to go to school to learn something and better themselves...

but hey - what does my opinion matter.... :x
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

Honestly.... why not? It's not like they're learning anything in College.

I guess it could be argued that by playing college basketball/football they are generating revenue for college via TV and merchandise, but with average tuition being $10-20,000/year, does the college legitimately need that income???

Keep schools for schooling, in my opinion. If you ain't going to teach the kids anything... why should I support them being there?
