Black from Dublin

I doubt you'll find any Pearl Jam fan who doesn't love Black. It's just a great song. However, it definitely wasn't a song I was going into the Dublin gig thinking "Oh, I have to hear Black tonight". There were many others I was hoping to hear ahead of it (some of which they played). Having said that, for me it is easily the best song of the night and the bootleg only confirms that. I have to admit I haven't gotten all the way through the boot yet without having to repeat that song when it comes on. Just perfect, the crowd was great... "I'm spinnin', ohhhh I'm spinnin'" and "whyyyyyyy" bits give me the chills. And of course the extended outro with Ed’s haunting singing of “we belong together” over the “do do do do do’s” Good job everyone!

Anyone else have songs from the Euro boots that they can't help but repeat it over and over?
Put the garbage in the garbage can... I can't stress that enough.

Yep me too! It was perfect. And like that, I hadn't gone thinking I'd like to hear it... although it's such a special song and the song that got me hooked on the band in the first place so, for me, it's one that I'll never get sick of. So to hear it live for the first time IN Dublin and sounding so amazing is just... wow!

  • it was an amazing experience...

Anyone remember 2000 when they closed with it? Eddie covered himself in black tape and dove off a speaker into the crowd. Pure raw emotion. Unbelievable.
die on a hilltop.. eyeing the crows,
waiting for your lids to close..
but you want to watch as they peck your flesh..
Ironic that they go for the eyes first

Yeah, was there for that one too. A brilliant moment really. It's great listening to the boot where the band and crowd are sort of quite... Ed jumps into the crowd... the screams from the crowd coincide with the band suddenly coming back into the song fully. You can't rehearse that shit. That comes from being in a band with the same people for so long.

thats what makes them the best band in the world. And being in the middle of all that... knowing Ed is just about to jump... you know what adrenaline is flowing... emotion... everything is just.... beautiful
