Breaking....48 yrs old.
And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

She has one of the greatest selling albums of all time.. I dont like her music, but that is impressive

  • I am not a fan but it is still very sad. Wonderful voice she had
  • Gotta think Bobby Brown is a little to blame.

Tragic news. I've been watching the news come in for a couple of hours now and it sounds like a very sad demise. Can't say I've ever been fan the same way I have been for Etta James or Aretha Franklin but she was a great singer to be fair and she really could have had it all.

No doubt that Bobby Brown is a scumbag, but she married him when she was 29 years old - an adult who is plenty capable of making her own educated decisions about drug use.

My thoughts go out to her fans. I won't pretend that I liked her music, but it's still very sad news.

What a shame to have it all and still not be fullfilled just like so many other stars that have ended up just like her in a big junk pile , very predictable who's next :?: , as if being alive is just not enough .......
jesus greets me looks just like me ....
  • It seems the last 20 years, or so, of her life have been a bit of a trainwreck and I believe there have been reports of her being all but bankrupt as of recent. Being the eve of the Grammys and all, I just wonder if maybe depression got to her in a really bad way. Just my own speculation, but I wonder if this wasn't an accident?

It amazes me that this continually happens to people, especially celebrities. I understand more if people are alone and have no one to turn to and I guess it's hard for me to speak on it cause I have great people in my life to turn to in times of crisis. But it's hard to comprehend that there wasn't somebody that could see what was happening to her, and couldn't or wouldn't help. Obviously Bobby Brown wasn't a great person to hook up with, but after they split, wasn't there anyone at least trying to help her? Were the people around her vultures? Enablers? Or was she just not willing to help herself? Like I said earlier, we've all known her life was a mess the last 20 years. I just don't get how if there were people that cared for her, how it could get to this point?

I guess it also gives me more respect for people who have lived in the public eye and have been able to keep it together without tragedy or controversy.

Sometimes there just aren't those people around. Or sometimes the person in trouble doesn't want or see the help around them. Smart people make stupid decisions all the time.

This is a big reason why I have so much respect for Ed. His life could have gone off track so many different ways at so many different points in his life. Who knows how he managed to hold it together but he did and what strikes me when he talks now is how at peace he is with life. Chris Cornell too.

Happen to see this today and I thought about Whitney and people like her who weren't able to figure it out. Ed talks about how the muscles you build during the struggles before success are what's going to keep you going when you get there. That makes a lot of sense to me, and maybe not enough people figure that out.

it remains my fave clip ever of her

  • people she knows or was with in her last days have reported her as saying some really weird stuff like "my time is coming", "it's time for me to see Jesus", and something about being ready to die, but that last one not in those words.

who knows how believable such things are, but it makes me wonder, no matter what the press is reporting, if this wasn't actually an accident at all.

either way, her poor daughter. she's going to be going through a very PUBLIC mourning process.

    Autopsy report....

Whitney Houston had drowned in bathtub. Coronors report say that heart disease and chronic cocaine use were the contributing factors to singers death.

Xanax and Benadryl were also in her system, as well as perscription drugs.

It seems when things begin looking up for some stars... new movies, tours, albums,
after being away from the industry takes it's toll. I guess we can understand
that just from the physical standpoint.
Then add the mental pressures and any abuse that may have been going on for years
    and we lose them. :(

This has been an eye opener for me personally in a way that
I feel we can not necessarily get away from our past and even our roots.
    It can catch up.

Journey on Miss Whitney, you are the voice of an angel now and always
