My Morning Jacket now reported as the opener for a lot of the dates

My Morning Jacket have announced details of a European tour - which includes a slot at the V Festival.

The US rockers will play a string of dates, which include their first UK tour proper since the release of their 2005 album 'Z'.

The group were scheduled to play in Britain earlier this year, but cancelled the shows when singer/guitarist Jim James fell ill with pneumonia-related health complications.

Bar two festivals, the shows on the European mainland are support slots for Pearl Jam. They also have announced their own UK date at the London Astoria on September 22.

The full tour is:

Pukkelpop Festival (17)
Stafford V Festival (19)
Chelmsford V Festival (20)
Nottingham Rescue Rooms (22)
Manchester Academy 2 (23)
Glasgow ABC (25)
Edinburgh Cabaret Voltaire (26)
Birmingham Academy 2 (29)
Barcelona Pavello Olimpic de Badalona (September 1)
Azkena Rock Festival (2)
Lisbon Pavilhao Atlantico (4/5)
Madrid Arena (7)
Marseille Le Dome (9)
Paris Bercy (11)
Bern Arena (13)
Bologna PalaMalaguti (14)
Verona Arena di Verona (16)
Milan Forum (17)
Torino Palaisozaki (19)
Pistoia Duomo Square (20)

They are doing all the shows I'm going to except the Dublin gig.

I've never heard any material from this band, what are they like?

Well, with Sleater-Kinney breaking up maybe PJ needed a new fall-back opening band.

Much better choice, in my opinion.

They are great..Very melodic, and Jim James has one hell of a voice...Their first 2 records ( Tennessee Fire & At Dawn ) are classics and the latest Z is very good ( although much more experimental ) Their 3rd album It Still Moves is abit of a clunker but has 4 or so brilliant songs.
  • well i loved them when i saw them in New Jersey with PJ!

    i thought they were great-
so am i right in thinking MMJ are doing some dates and Wolfmother are doing the others?

anyone know whos supporting in Greece?

    my next PJ adventure!
