im offs to bed. The sooner i get to sleep the less time i have to wait for the boot. Was fun sharing my first net only show w/your goofballs. Have a good night.
"thats the first time pearl jam and only pearl jam has done All along the watchtower"
They also played it in Seattle on 3/18/05 at the NW School Benefit.
there were more people there on stage for that show than just pearl jam.. who knows someone might have joined pj tonight.. but as far as ive heard it was just the band.. i guess what i mean is its the first time they're playing at a full pearl jam show.
Holy f*** that was an amazing show. And yes, they did actually have the one of the Sonic Youth guitarists join them for AATW. But oh my God, I think I cried it was so beautiful...
FYI, I will relay the set list via justam, Dugan99 over at RM and anyone else helping out! Hop in and have fun with us!
Soundcheck: seeker, don't be shy, I am mine, Here's to the State of Mississippi
Preset: I Am Mine
Opening Band: Sonic Youth
SY's setlist:
Set: Release, Life Wasted, Severed Hand, Hail Hail, Worldwide Suicide, Untitled/MFC, Red Mosquito, Unemployable, Sad, Light Years, Big Wave, Even Flow, Do The Evolution, In Hiding, Down, Present Tense, Why Go
Encore 1: Wasted Reprise, Man of the Hour, Crazy Mary, Comatose, Alive
Encore 2: Last Exit, State of Love and Trust, Leash, All Along the Watchtower, Yellow Ledbetter
1) Ed said right before something to the effect of "We're in San Francisco, and this is a San Francisco song... and, well, I think we're gonna play the shit out of it".
2) They played the FULL version, end-to-end.
3) Mike's guitar smashing is a little over-stated... rather than smashing, he threw it up in the air (quite a ways) a couple times and just let it crash to the floor. But no handle-holding-into-speakers/floor smashing.
That said, this boot is a must, and that setlist was a die-hard fan's dream. Yummy...
Actually, I think he did smash it once on the side of the monitors after he threw it up in the air a few times - iirc (and then Ed tried "surfing" on it - but the string side was down and he fell without getting very far.
:-)
Just got back...the three others I went with weren't familiar with much more than Ten. Poor fucking them...my energy level has never been higher...we got treated well tonight. My only complaint is that I am not going to any more shows (as of yet). The Gorge may also become part of my next week. Sick, sick, sick shows these have been in S.F.
yeah dude ed surfed on the guitar after mike smashed it against the ground a few times haha wow that kicked so much ass.
my ears hurt
my throat hurts
i'm probably second hand high
but i'm happy
that was my FIRST pearl jam show. and why the FUCK havent i gone to any before? i'm only 16.. owell. yeah me and my bud were on mike's side, uh near the guy who got a little too drunk before the pre-set even started and collapsed. yeah i have long black asain hair wearing the blue alvocado shirt for half of the show, then i took it off and i had a black Zeppelin shirt. so uh Hi if you were anyone around me, there were some pretty chill people there. (and some assholes who pushed their way though) but i think what makes pearl jam show's kick so much ass is not just the amazing incredible music which makes you piss your pants, but its the crowd. Everyone was singing along to EVERY song and it makes you feel like one giant family helping eachother out. ya know?
ok long ass (first) post. so Hi Pearl Jam Forums. I think i'm gonna sign up for the ten club :P
Take care guys, and GREAT show!
Uheard songs Wishlist:
1. Black
2. Breath
3. Low Light
4. Thin Air
5. Oceans
Highlights: In Hiding...Light Years...Comatose...Present Tense...Watchtower...fuck...they were all highlights...
Fanfuckintastic show...I thought the crowd/vibe was better in San Diego but this set list was absolutely ridiculous. Couldn't have asked for more...except No Way, but that's just plain greedy.

EPIC! That is all I can say about tonight being the final show of the three night stink in SF. I think we got somewhere around 70 different congs over three shows....wow.
The highlights (for me) were:
IN HIDING...what a completely fucking amazing song (pardon the vulgarity). It was sheer magic.
EVENFLOW...Ed let the audience do all of the singing after the solo and I think it blew him away!
CRAZY MARY - I've seen this done a bunch of times on the East Coast but I will tell you that Boom finally let it ALL out. His solo was just spot on - teared through the place. Then Mike just went flipping crazy!!!!!! Great one!!!!!!
ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER (with Sonic Youth member...don't know his name) - MIke goes ballistic and tosses his guitar randomly about 15 feet in the air each time for about five throws...then smashes the neck against a side speaker and throws it to the back side of the stage. Ed decides he's not done with it, grabs, it, places it in the center of the stage, runs off side, lines up, and runs on the guitar....AND SURFS across the stage. AMAZING!!!!
Ed thought that was te sign that they were done and kicks the shit out of his own mike stand and the whole band end up laughing at him because they still had Ledbetter left. Great moment....amazing ending, amazing run!
end of All Along the Watchtower, Mike smashes his guitar, throughs it off side stage, Ed retrieves it, then places it on the stage and takes a running start and surfs on Mike's guitar before tumbling forward, lol
CLASSIC
"Music, for me, was fucking heroin." eV (nothing Ed has said is more true for me personally than this quote)
