Anyone listen to this guy? I was introduced to his music recently and he is an amazing blues guitarist. Shocked I had never heard of him before. His recent live album at Albert Hall is unbelievable.

Ridiculously good guitarist...horrible blues guitarist....Just don't hear any emotion whatsoever when he plays.

I don't really know much about him to be honest but as a guitarist he is incredible from what I've heard. Not a fan of Black Country Communion though, I thought they'd be a bit less predictable and I've loved Glenn Hughes since Deep Purple days. I thought they just sounded like a half decent pub band. Bonamassa is really dextrous and talented though. I will eventually explore his music a bit more.

One of the best. Seen him several time and was introduced to him at Clapton's Crossroads festival. BCC is great. See him live. Also Google him and look at his stuff when he was 12. WOW!

Yeah, I am really impressed. Very surprised he has been around this long and I have never heard of him. Very talented. Been listening to the first disc of Albert hall nonstop this week. I really like Last Kiss, but all of his material seems great.

Any advice on where to start?

Sloe Gin and Dust Bowl are great albums.
  • No doubt one of my favorites. I had front row tickets for a show once and it was awesome. I remember being extremely impressed with his acoustic guitar playing especially and theres no doubt he can play electric as good or better than anyone. It amazes me that people still haven't heard of him. The guy opened for BB King when he was 12 yrs old and hasn't looked back since. Check out the albums Sloe Gin and Blues Deluxe to start. Good songs to start with: Burning Hell, Sloe Gin, Woke up dreaming, Ballad of John Henry, Bridge to better days, Miss you hate you

  • First time I heard about him was when I bought the album Don't Explain by Joe and Beth Hart. Absolutely love the album. I'm not familiar with his solo work, but maybe I should check it out.

Discovered him last year-- he absolutely blows me away every time I listen to him! I think he's an incredible guitarist and has got a great voice on top of that! I really enjoy the Live from Nowhere In Particular release.

I have seen Joe like 12 times back in the early 2000's. Met him a few times. Really nice guy. Haven't seen him since 2008 though. His music is incredible. Their band used to be a 3 piece, with Joe on lead guitar. (they may have added additional members since then). Great live show, and his albums are really good. My fave album is: "So, it's like that."

If looking to get into his albums: (there really isn't a bad starting point).
So, it's like that (recommend if you don't want as much blusey stuff).
    Had to cry today
    A new day yesterday
    Blues deluxe
You and Me (more of a covers album though), but very good.
    Slow Gin
    Ballad of John Henry.

He also has a live disc out called:
    Live from nowhere in Particular.

A dvd out from rockpalast that is good too.

 yes this is a great album, love the combination of her voice and his guitar...

In terms of his solo stuff, Sloe Gin is probs my favourite, Black Rock was good, not listened to Dustbowl enough yet ...

  • I found out about him early last year, can't get enough of his stuff. Only complaint, saw him 2 times last year, last show of the winter tour, and then early in his fall tour, Very little difference in setlist. Was thoroughly entertained by both, he is just something to see live.
