    EL84's get fuzzy when pushed, so I tend to avoid them. For the money, there is a lot more available out there.

    Getting a Triple Rec for my angry music

    Looking for something like a VOX AC30.

    Well you could get a hand wired Vox AC30 head for $1,299.

    As much as i'd rather not suggest Dr. Z, you could go the Stang Ray route http://www.drzamps.com/amp/stang_ray/ FYI My issue with Dr. Z is he will come out and say it's his new circuit, and it's just a clone of a old amp, just like everyone else does.

    Now the reason I'm suggesting heads, is because those circuits in combos are known to beat the crap out of tubes (like most combos), but that circuit tends to run those power tubes hot. So I'd go the head route, and never sit the head on the cabinet.

    Triple Rec and a AC30, sounds like your into Dave Grohl :D

    Thanks for the suggestion! The PRS amp was a gift from a client and the Mesa is being purchased from a close friend. The problem is that the recto cab he has is a straight cab not a slant. Have to figure out how to swap it for something that's going to project better
