In 5 days it will once again be SAD day -- Singles Awareness Day, Suck Ass Day, Shitty to be Alone Day, and so on. For couples it will be Valentine's day of course. I think I'll call in sick and stay in bed all day - 36 years alone and no hope for escape.

I really, really hate this time a year.

my suggestion: rail against any day that is drummed up by some marketing guru to get you to spend money to prove your feelings for someone ... mothers day, anniversary days, valentines day ... whatever ... it's a scam ...

although i'm not single ... i won't be spending valentines with my partner ...
  • Awww. Terrible. Some people can spend lifetimes with others and still be alone. So, being alone is a state of mind.

Though, many people spend their lives alone unfulfilled its a shame.

    Very true.

Valentine's isn't a big day in our home...it's the little (and sometimes big) things we do for eachother the other 364 days of the year that matter more.
  • Like most days it is just a reason for x business to make some money.

My little SAD fact for you is that I have always been alone on the SAD day and I love it! :D

I'm single right now so I'm going to enjoy Valentines day this year. As a male, there is little upside to Valentines day ... you can only screw it up or spend so much money that you wish you screwed it up and saved a few bucks. 8-)

Valentines day should be everyday. We have to carve out one day for all the dummies who cant express it any other time of the year. Id be afraid if someone is demanding gifts. Id be a bit apprehensive.
  • i LOVE being single. although it does help to have a friend with benefits. :D

we're going to get drunk on V-Day and screw, then sleep in our own beds. THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.

So what would you do if you didnt have the "friend" ....
  • Being single doesn’t bother me one bit.

My son is obsessed with games shows so he's getting wheel of fortune for v-day. I'll go to work then enjoy playing the wheel 50 times before he passes out :D
  • Take it from a married guy who can no longer do it:

Go to strip club. Throw money at boobies.

    You WILL feel better.

  • I would try to focus on the good things in your life, and remember it could be a lot worse. I know it's easier said than done. My guy and I are in the weird realm of not being official but being more than friends. V-day will be awkward I'm sure. I tried to buy him a card, but they don't make hey were are just dating and not sure if this is going some where relationship card.

On a positive note Valentines day is an opportunity to show

    LOVE!

    doesn't matter who to ...

just love up someone and make their day

    a compliment
    a kindness
    a hug
    a smile

try a little tenderness towards others this where happy comes from :D

Just kidding, great song though. 2 years to the day since seeing them in NYC, great concert; worst night of my life.

Valentine's day is what you make it since it's just a made up day for marketers, like others have said. I'm married and we don't do a thing. It means nothing, really.

A group of single friends get together and go out the day after (February 15) to some place that serves lots of garlic laced dishes (since we probably won't end up kissing that night). One of our semi-regular haunts is the 'Stinking Rose' on La Cienega... very garlicky.
It's kind of a celebration of not being chained to that bullshit Hallmark Greeting Cards invented holiday that tells you that you have to be romantic that date and the restaurants and flower shops can price gouge you.
Instead, give flowers all the time (even to your gal pals) for no reason other thant you like them... even your gal pals you don't occasionally have sex with. Be romantic all the time to your spouse or significant other.
    ...
You have single gal pals... right? Ones you love, but aren't in love with, right? Try one of these anti-V.Days where everyone goes Dutch... food and drinks. They're fun.
And tell your male friends to spring for flowers for the gals... just because. It's a nice thingto do.

be a little bit less happy... and rub one out. ;)
