Mine was San Sebastian, Spain, from early 2000...

I was kind of oblivious during the 2 yr stretch between Yield and Binaural... and didn't realise that PJ was releasing each boot as an individual album..

So i went to a record store one night, and thought "what the fuck is this?!?" when i saw the little cardboard package with a setlist on the back...

so i bought it, and listened to it, fell in love w/live shows all over again, and now i have over 120 shows...

San Sebastian, Spain, 5/26/00

My first ever live show i purchased.

First ever live show i heard was in '95, living in australia, they broadcasted on Triple J (or JJJ) the 3/17/95 Melbourne show... you know, w/the 'NW' words...

i sat in front of the stereo, and had these huge ass headphones on (i was 15) and recorded the whole thing on 3 cassettes. Now i finally have the thing on cd, and got relive it recently.. and i remembered every word from 11 years ago.

That was the first live show i ever heard.

First one I bought was Seattle #2 from the 2000 tour. After that, I had to get more, so I got Detroit, and then I think I got Lisbon, so I had the first and last from the tour. 6 months after I bought Seattle #2, I had all 72 of the 2000 boots, and since then I've gone nuts and have probably around 400 live shows...
  • A friend gave me the cd for a present... I still kick myself for not going to the show... just a short flight away...

My friend had an extra ticket but I couldn't make it. I guess I was in a phase where I wasn't listening to PJ that much. Some months later, I went to a record store and saw a shitload of the slim cardboard PJ boots, also not expecting it; so I looked at a few, considered getting Las Vegas, Seattle & Columbus and settled on Columbus because I nearly went. THat just triggered a bootleg obsession because I hadn't even heard Binaural before I bought the boot. So I got 10-15 from that tour and I have 100+ and never looked back.

So literally because of the boots, I got back into PJ. Ingenious.

  • Does it count if I borrowed Penn State 2003? If not it would be Gorge 1.

  • Mine was Salzburg - June 18th, 2000. It was 2002 and i'd just discovered Pearl Jam. I went to a music store nearby and bought Binaural, Vs, and the Salzburg boot. After the first listen i couldn't get enough of that version of Betterman. Eddie's voice sounded so smooth and pure, i was amazed. From there, i was hooked.

milan, italy from 2000. I didn't have any other album except the first two so hearing present tense for the first time kind of blew my mind.

Found the bootleg at a used record store in 99. Paid an obscene amount for it, but it started my obsession with Pearl Jam bootlegs. Great show :D

Does the MSG DVD count? If not, then Dublin '00.
