It's pretty well known that when a black person is on the cover of a mag like this or some fashion magazine, that issue sells less. What drives that is where the debate is.

I don't believe that, some of the most beautiful women in the world are black some have made a very good living gracing the cover of different magiznes, I don't think that the fashin world is drivin by race...money would be the drive for any business and they don't care what color a model is that can draw sales and attention.

i think what they are saying is that the magazines are indeed driven by money hence not putting a non-white person on the cover ... it's not that they are racists - it's just that some of their consumers are ...

I don't think racism is that much of the issue, some people are not attracted to dark women as well as white or brown women and thats not racism.

Some of their consumers are certainly probably racist. But I also wonder who it is buying the magazines...who exactly is the target consumer...they have to give them what they want. It may not be a matter of being racist, just what they prefer.

I'm less likely to buy a magazine with Tom Brady on it then I am Robert Griffin III, does that mean I don't like white people? Pro Football? Guys married to brazillian models? Tom brady? You decide. ;)

no ... definitely agree ... the primary point is that the magazine's motivation is definitely $$$

I also agree with Cincy...I think it's all a non issue. The editor may have even just liked that picture better than the one that ended up on the inside of the cover.

PS. Lets go Patriots this weekend!! ;)

I wouldn't buy the magazine as it is or if their was an African American on the cover but come next year I gaurantee you there will be one on the cover. Time heals all wounds.
