I am on annual leave for 2 weeks, managed to not watch his show yet, next week to get through. I'm more of a Homes Under The Hammer and Wanted Down Under kinda guy  ! Would rather put some tunes on though.

F£$% i thought someone was about to inform he was a Pearl jam fan or something. PHEW!!!

All you need to know is that Jermy Kyle is a bottomfeeder ... divide Jerry Springer by Newt Gingritch, add a British accent and give him a talkshow and you get the idea
  • I'm so glad I don't have a tv.

This program really says a lot about what's wrong with England - self-righteous snooping, class snobbery, and a moronic obsession with reality t.v.
And Kyle is a nasty, opportunistic wanker who berates and chides his guests at every opportunity because shouting at people is somehow deemed to be entertainment.

I have to say while i think Jeremy Kyle is a wanker, i love watching his tv show, especially the american one, all most of his guests needs is a good kick in the ass, and he does it sooo well

yes i am probably in the minority here but so be it

Being that I'm English, I think I have the right to say whatever I like about the English people.

Why? Was there something in my comment that you disagree with? Is England not full of self-righteous snoops (News of The World, The Sun, Jeremy Kyle, Big Brother), class snobbery, and full of t.v addicted couch potatoes?

As long as you don't count me in, how did a comment about a rat like Jeremy Kyle result in this. *Offers hand shake* I am more than willing to agree with elements of what you say, however we need to agree to disagree on some points.

Of course I was generalizing. But shows like Jeremy Kyle are very popular for a reason, and it has nothing to do with the health of the nation.

For those reading this thread who don't know - the non-British contingent - this show is on t.v from Monday to Friday every morning at 9am in England. Therefore I think it's fair to assume that the majority of people who watch it are unemployed.
Personally, I think it would be bad enough being unemployed in the first place without waking up and watching a program that features Jeremy Kyle shouting and berating England's equivalent of Jerry Springer fodder.
It has to be about the most depressing thing on t.v in England, and yet it's one of the most popular shows there. It seems that a lot of people are addicted to it. And unlike Jerry Springer, it's not at all funny. It's just plain grim. Unemployed people, drug addicts, pregnant teens, e.t.c, being shouted at and humiliated on national t.v by someone with about as much charisma as a toad.
It depresses me just thinking about it.

  • I don't watch much TV but that is disgusting. People love to kick a man while their down, like any bully in the school yard. Its simple thing to do they are defenseless. We live in cruel world where enjoyment comes from attacking and bullying people.
  • Does he have a show in the US now? I've seen some commercials for a daytime show with some guy with an accent yelling at his guests. It seems like it might be this guy. Hi syelling in the commercial seemed very forced and phony. There was no indication of any real anger or exasperation, it was just a ridiculous display of hiding a lack of quality beneath excessive volume. It seems like this has been the trend for British TV personalities coming to the US for the last decade or so (the "Weakest Link" lady, Simon Cowell, Gordon Ramsey, and now this guy). It's gotten louder and louder, too. Simon Cowell and the "Weakest Link" lady were more rude than loud but Gordon Ramsey seems to like screaming a lot and this guy seems to want to out-scream Ramsey.

    I don't have tv but I know this show,it is a disease.

Every time I visit a family in their home this programme is on.
Yesterday I was at a social care meeting with one of the accommodated young people I work with.Jeremy Kyle was on tv in the sitting room,I sat with a group of teenagers who were all laughing and joking about the topic of the show.
I asked them why they watched such shit, one of them said it makes them feel better about their own lives as they can't be that bad or else they would be on the show.
Many of the teenagers agreed and were telling me that the shows production team target socially deprived areas for show topics and promises of being put up in a nice hotel for a few days and get paid to appear on the show.

Jeremy Kyle himself is a sanctimonious bully who has his own dark secrets locked away.

But we have Jerry Springer to thank for the popularity of such twisted programmes.

dude, generalizations are usually incorrect for a reason. I used to watch Springer every single morning back in the day. Was I unemployed? NOPE. I worked midnights. I'd come home from work, get stoned, watch Springer to wind down, and then drift off to sleep for the day.

Saying that someone doesn't work simply because they are home in the morning was relevant about 30 years ago when shift work was reserved for policemen and firefighters, but not even close by today's standards.

While I haven't watched any of those types of shows for about a decade or so, because now they disgust me, young people don't get as irritated by that stuff as older folks like us do (and by older, I mean 30+). They don't see the real harm in it, because those shows don't represent real people or a real problem. It's only when they start concentrating on real issues and the state of their surrounding area's economy and social issues does it start to hit home that it's real and it's shit.

on Springer during the Q&A with the audience, several people would ask the show's guests why they came on, and more often than not, they'd say "free trip to (insert city here)".

Smoozing in the Green Room after show and paid £250 per story.
