i once heard Of The Girl playing through the speakers at the grocery store
Haha! That's very weird... THIS MORNING I was watching PBS (yeah yeah, my in-laws are in town and they don't have cable, so they come here and insist on watching that, despite us having digital cable and HBO ) and they had a "coming up next on PBS screen" up and the music was Of The Girl. Crazy.
I watch a lot of stuff on PBS by choice and they tend to have great bumper music.
Just today while listening to ESPN radio on my computer at work, Mason & Ireland were interviewing Jeremy Lin's High School coach and they use PJ's "Jeremy" as the lead in.
It's not a rare one but they were laughing at the fact that the song does not have a good ending.
The old WBCN in Boston used to occasionally play full concerts late at night. One time PJ was featured and I turned it on while Leatherman was playing.
As for a studio song...I am totally blanking. Will think on it because this is a great question.
I miss WBCN , I remember back in the day taping one of those live concerts, I prolly still have it somewhere.
I heard Gremmie Out Of Control on some station in the Keys a fews years back, while driving around. It might have been a Pirate Station, though. (No pun intended..there are a few of them down there)
I heard Eddies cover of You've Got To Hide Your Love Away yesterday afternoon on 92.9 in Boston. Hadn't heard the studio version of that it forever.
Yeah that's a great station. I heard a stripped down acoustic probably radio studio version of Jeremy on there 2 weeks ago on a Sunday morning. I went looking for the exact track on their website's playlist but only got a link to Ten :( I should e-mail them it was during Sunday Morning Over Easy.
I heard some song I can't remember what live on WBRU over the summer and when they had their 90s week they played the album cut of Hail, Hail. I forgot how great that song is.

Here in NY there are no stations that play any PJ at all ....It doesn't happen
Stream 107.1 The Peak if you live in a part of NY that doesn't get the station. Awesome, awesome station that plays a decent amount of PJ!

Man, I miss 'BCN. I remember the night they went off the air for good, the last thing they played was the 7-11-03 Mansfield show in it's entirety. They did a poll of the top bands in the 41 year history of WBCN and Pearl Jam came in at #1.
As for the least likely song I ever heard on the radio: Let Me Sleep. They played it a couple months ago during WAAF's Holiday chestnut segment.
Yup. I remember hearing them play this too.
A station here in western Mass, Lazer 99.3 plays a great mix of PJ. Not just Alive, Even Flow etc. They will play immortality, Wishlist, In Hiding, I Got Id etc. They always play their new stuff. They played all the releases off Backspacer except Amongst the Waves.

Nothing that shocking (in the NYC\north east, anyhow) ... but down here (north carolina) ... i'm always Oohed and Ahhhd when some DJ decides to spin
Say Hello To Heaven ...
I just find it hard to imagine your average DJ wanting to throw that on the radio ...
also,
the other day,
for the first time in my life,
I heard
TIMES OF TROUBLE
on the radio ...
and i was almost creeped out by it.
in a good way.
;P
sorry.
know you said "PJ" song
106.9 WCCC in Connecticut/western Mass always plays Say Hello To Heaven. So does Lazer 99.3 western Mass.

WBCN was the best channel around. I try not to subject myself to AAF all that often. It's more about the lifestyle of the music they play and less about the music. IMO.
