Second Chance

he lay broken
bestrewn
like a forgotten dream
unwilling to pick himself up
unwilling to even try,…
to live again.
he wore self loathing
and pity well,
it looked good on him
like last year’s fashion
distasteful, yet….
slimming.
she floated into his life,
like an angel
full of grace and love
picking him up,
nurturing him
like an injured bird
she gave him his life back
she showed him how to love,
and be loved again
she gave him more than he could ever hope to give her
she gave him
a second chance.
