Second Chance

‪
he lay broken‬
bestrewn‬
like a forgotten dream‬
unwilling to pick himself up‬
unwilling to even try,…‬
to live again.‬

‪he wore self loathing‬
and pity well,‬
it looked good on him‬
like last year’s fashion‬
distasteful, yet….‬
slimming.‬

‪she floated into his life,‬
like an angel‬
full of grace and love‬
picking him up,‬
nurturing him‬
like an injured bird‬

she gave him his life back‬
‪she showed him how to love,‬
and be loved again‬
she gave him more than he could ever hope to give her‬
she gave him‬
a second chance.
