  • Northerners, or Woolybacks are a very strange breed. You can expect to eat black pudding (pigs blood and fat)
pigs trotters (pigs feet). A flat cap and ill fitting waist coat are essential items of clothing you will need so as not to look conspicuous, and you will also need plenty of wet weather and warm clothing as the climate in those parts just goes from spring straight to autumn (fall). Another essential gadget would be a wind up charger for any phones as electricity has only just recently been installed and can cut off at any time. Try not to use American to English phrase book as most terms they use are not in there. You may find one locally that you may be able to swap with your girlfriend. Apart from that have a great trip ;)http://forums.pearljam.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=182254
  • The crowds in the UK can go one way or another... very friendly and lots of space or cramped like sardines and other people's elbows in your nostrils... On purpose.

Quite a few GA people will be about 40 years old and letting their hair down because the wife and kids have let them out for the night. They'll be tanked up on beer and letting go like they're still in the twenties with the same bad attitude... Watch out for this kind of fan, they're loud, obnoxious and will be extremely drunk.

Most Tenclub peeps are nice and you will make friends but don't queue if you can help it... You will not get a fair representation of UK PJ fans doing this... You only will meet militant PJ UBER Fans this way.

Manchester 2009 was my worst PJ gig to date but i'll be at both shows this Summer in the hope my opinion can change. Come to the pre-party on the 19th if you can, you'll meet lots of really cool nice people in a relaxed non-gig environment
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits
  • its going to be very interesting it seems. i'm not worried about my safety as much as people staying seated, as i am the type to go crazy and end the show without a shirt. lmao.
