Realizing that I'm almost halfway done with college and I need to take more advantage of having DC so close-by! What are your favorite things to do in DC? Restaurants I must eat at? Anything cool that's music related?

Madam's Organ - a bar in Adam's Morgan - is one of the coolest places I've been to in DC. The music was AWESOME when I went. The other totally awesome music venue I've been to in DC is this jazz club called Bohemian Caverns, which was an old speakeasy or something.

And, of course, you can't beat the Smithsonian museums & national monuments - just the National Mall in general. My very favorite monument is the Korean War Memorial.

I am assuming you have been to the 9:30 club, great music venue, http://www.930.com/. I really like a coffee house/bar in Adam's Morgan called Tryst, http://www.trystdc.com/. The bartenders are great there, at least in my experience.

Of course all of the Smithsonians, you can't beat the price! If you are going to be around the first week of April, DC is celebrating the national cherry blossom festival. This is the 100th year anniversary, unfortunately I have a wedding in Savannah, so I won't be there this year, but it is beautiful to walk the tidal basin with the trees in full bloom.
There is so many fun things to do in DC, it kind of depends on what you're interested in. Hope some of these are of interest to you, enjoy! :)

I think Sam is a girl..

I would say the Smithsonian, a trip to the mall for a protest, and the war monuments. (Monuments are lame but its cool to say you were there once.)

I was a student at University of Maryland in the 80s and my DC favorites were:
the old 9:30 club (I know there's a new one, haven't been to that, but the old was awesome)
the Brickskellar (beers from around the world in Dupont Circle)
    Hiking on Roosevelt Island
    Hiking in Great Falls MD/VA
The Sackler Gallery (Buddest art at Smithsonian Museum)
Native American Museum on the Mall
It's nice to be nice to the nice.

Thanks for all the suggestions thus far! Some places I've been, quite a few I have not, so I now have some work cut out for me (but very fun work!) :)
