Not sure if those getting on their high horses (with their own 'sweeping generalisations') have gone beyond the title of the thread and really read the article. Just a lil' extract again....

Well thats the thing. when you start feeling to be "superior" to others that when its time to be the most humble and understanding. Its a terrible contradiction when you should be a empathetic life teacher to others rather than a "moral" fascist.

I don't know about your statement that one "should be an empathetic life teacher" rather than a moral fascist... it is more about just accepting everyone for who they are and keeping your nose out of their business (or their bladder contents, or their bedroom, or their doctor's office, etc)

I could care less what people are doing as long as is isn't hurting other people. Well that's what I mean instead riding on the high moral horse trying to "fix" things you see as wrong you should be at the root of the problems you seek to answer and fix. For instance, I personally don't believe in abortion, however, it is still a woman's choice. Factors of environment and society... like for one- we cant even take care of the people we have, makes me believe we need abortion/contraceptives until you can figure out problems like hunger, child abuse and such. "We" as a human global family have responsibilities and accountability to each other first to fix problems before bringing more children upon this miserable planet. I also believe life begins at birth, until your actions of actually being here are effecting other people. Were getting fairly close to 8 billion people now.... so...

Moral factors that is by saying its "wrong" isn't a good enough argument.

It was in the article because they had to have a quote to the contrary of the study. It doesn't mean the person who said it is correct. An extremist view is something like "blacks and gays need to be shipped to their own island".

I do not fall into the true category of a conservative but I know many and respect even more.

What I don't respect is people who post things to put entire groups of people down.
To me this not only lacks intelligence but compassion. It is a sign of bias and prejudice
the exact thing that these people are protesting. And what is the icing on the cake
is these people don't see it, that is ignorance.

But you have to understand that Conservative in one nation is not the same as it may be in another. Many nations have Conservative parties that would be labeled moderate liberal in the U.S.

Of course it doesn't mean they are correct, but I can agree with it and believe they are correct. Just like the study itself or anything else.

And it is not contrary to the study. It indeed would agree with study and take it a step farther.

Why Go Home is exactly right. The Conservative party of Canada Would line up with the Democratic party in the U.S.

The Gop in the U.S. is basically a radical right wing party that is getting closer and closer to being the mirror image of the religious extremist political groups in the middle east.

I don't have the attention span to read the article, but I think I tend to agree with the title of the thread. I come across more dumb conservatives than I do dumb liberals.

Generalizations for large groups aren't usually a good idea, though. Here's one: Liberals are meaner than conservatives.

Living where I live now, there are more dumb liberals than conservatives. Where I lived previously, there were more dumb conservatives than liberals.

Why? Because there were more conservatives where I formerly lived and more liberals where I currently live.

I see so much bias here I want to throw up so I guess this place is full of unintelligent people

but some only see the others as biased not themselves... this the irony

people don't understand me when I say I love someone though I do not agree
with their core beliefs at all ... I do not have to agree, I do not become disgusted
or biased or even feel they are wrong for their beliefs. I love them.
They have their path, their time to learn, their right.

Does that make me smarter
I'm sure most here would think that laughable including me...
point ... one can not be prejudice in the presence of love and understanding.
It has little to do with brains and a whole lot to do with the heart.

For me biased people come from hating those not like themselves,
not even attempting to love and understand those of a different opinion or group.
These for me are the true ignorant people on each side of every issue.

I think all people are sprinkled about, generalizations are an easy way out,
no need to understand, just group and hate.

I was raised without prejudice, my life experiences have brought
many people to me to love of all persuasions and I just don't see any of the lines anymore.
Not everyone has had this in their lives and not everyone wants it.

How many feel as I here ... a whole lot I think
give everyone time to find the love to accept each other ...
it will come
in the meantime both sides perhaps can be kind
it's the first step to love and understanding
