    Dude I just found out that you can do it BEFORE you file your taxes. In fact, you're kind of supposed to. There's an option for "GOING to file" for a reason. You just estimate your info, use last years stuff or look at your pay stub/bank statements etc. And submit it based on estimates. Then after you get your taxes done go back and update it if your estimates were off. You don't lose your place in line and you get in before everyone that's waiting to do their taxes first. Apparently a lot of fin aid is first come first serve. I JUST learned this by sheer accident this year and did mine this way - for the first time in 8 years I've got an EFC below my tuition. Meaning I'm actually going to get fin aid next year, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER.
    I was floored when I got that email. FLOORED.
