Mindi, Tara, & I are currently working on organizing a preparty. Any ideas on a good location? The last party we threw, in St. Louis, the fire marshal came to shut us down. We had too many people!I wish I were the verb "to trust" and never let you down0 -

You should look into - Caz's, The Hunt Club, The Marquee, and SoundPony.
EDIT: I should mention these are all within walking distance to the venue, but not within walking distance to hotels in downtown Tulsa. There is the Bluedome District not far from the Brady district(about a half mile or so according google maps) with an entirely different set of cool bars for a pre party. They are as follows: McNellies, The Max, Arnies, amd Dirty's Tavern.
Any other Tulsans reading this please feel free to add to it...this is just off the top of my head.
Caz's will most likely be too small - but worth a call to check capicty.
Let me know if you three need help - my wife and I would like to contribute if need be.
Thanks!0 -
I live in McAlester too and hope to make the lottery cut for Tulsa.ozlifter wrote:I'll be there. Live down in McAlester. About 90 mins south.0 -

Thanks for all the info! We can always use volunteers at the preparty & a local liason is always good to have. We will probably schedule a meet up/dinner for the night of the 18th. We are all planing on getting there the day of the 18th.BA256233 wrote:ozarkcoolchic wrote:BA256233 wrote:Yeaaahhh Tulsa!!!

I grew up in the Tulsa area, as did the hubby, and most of our family still lives there. We'll be down from Kansas City.
As for the pre-party, I was thinking of contacting McNellies, since it is so big, and locally owned. We need a place that is good for all ages, and also has food. It just seemed like McNellies was a good choice (and they have a donations page on their site, which is a good sign they will give).

Well I'm in.
And yes need a local person to help out with donations. I can start emailing places for donations, so if someone can suggest local places that might donate. Also if places will donate but we need to pick up items, we'll need a local person to do that.
And we're kinda tossing around the idea of a local animal shelter item collection, so any local animal shelters? And I think we'd prefer a no kill one.

I agree, McNellies is a great choice for all the reasons you mentioned. However, it is in the Bluedome district which is a little over a half mile from the Brady Theater.0 -

Mindi,
I am working on a list of places to ask for donations with input from family in Tulsa. I will more than likely be in Tulsa in March, so I can help pick up items.
No kill shelters in Tulsa: Humane Society of Tulsa (http://www.tulsapets.com) and Tulsa SPCA (http://www.tulsaspca.org)
I am also looking for a organization in Oklahoma that helps victims of storms, etc. rebuild their homes,etc. (like the one in Joplin).Austin 9/16/95, Kansas City 7/3/98, St. Louis 10/11/00, Kansas City 10/12/00, Kansas City 6/12/03, Council Bluffs 6/13/03, MSG 7/8/03, St. Louis 10/5/04, Chicago 5/16/06, Chicago 5/17/06, NJ 6/1/06, NJ 6/1/06, The Gorge 7/22/06, The Gorge 7/23/06, Chicago 8/5/07, Bonnaroo 6/14/08, ACL 10/4/09, Kansas City 5/3/10, MSG 5/20/10, MSG 5/21/10, PJ20 9/3/11, PJ20 9/4/11, Chicago 7/19/13, Dallas 11/15/13, OKC 11/16/13, Tulsa 10/8/14, Lincoln 10/9/14, MSG 5/1/16, MSG 5/2/16, Chicago 8/20/16, Chicago 8/22/16, Seattle 8/8/18, Seattle 8/10/18, St. Louis 9/18/22, OKC 9/20/22, Chicago 9/5/23, Chicago 9/7/230 -
Not to be a PITA, but I'd rather find a little localish place. I know the ASPCA and Humane Society do great stuff, but they are nationally known and get more donations.
We should sooooo do this one

Really though, I'm tracking down more animal shelter options. To 10c; "Your PJ tshirt should be tight enough to show you're a woman and loose enough to show you're a lady." - bionicamy0 -
