What does everyone expect when you stick a mike in a players face right after a game of that magnitude. He's a bright guy with a masters degree and went to Stanford, he can say what he wants BECAUSE WHAT.......he can back it up and he most certainly does.

I can recall getting the opportunity to visit the Celtics locker room before a game with a friend and I was such shock as to how lip service talk Larry Bird did while tossing popcorn at everybody. Omg....this was 1986 and man what a cocky SOB but you know what he could back it up and did so very well.

The game was against the then Bullets and in the game it was tied with about 3 seconds left. I was giving lip service to a guy behind me who gave hell for wearing a BOSTON RUES. celtics white jacket. Anyway, I told him before the inbounds just watch Larry take the last shot and win this game. Instead of watching the play I watched the guy who was heckling me in fun all game long. The look on his face was unforgettable when Larry took that last shot...NBN...nothing but net for the win at the buzzer. He could only shake my hand and say Larry is a Legend.

Yes even bright guys get pumped up in those magical moments when the game is on the line and they come through. All sense of intelligence is left by the wayside and the emotions of the game take over. I'm sure if Sherman had won on this stage before he may have reacted differently.

I think the NFL needs better drug testing. In ten years we are going to look back on this era like we are right now when Big Mac and Bonds were launching 500 foot bombs an a daily basis.

Surprised to hear him crying like that. I don't even think that block by Welker was illegal so I don't know what he's all pissed off about. It's not like he went after his knees or anything...he just knocked Talib on his ass.

True. Other than that, what was so bad? Everything needs to be reviewable, period!
They didn't call the 15 yard penalty on the punter roughing that by rule should have been called. (As Fox's Mike P explained it) Harbaugh (again) had a head splitting conniption but he again proved that he knows the rulebook better than most of the officials. This should not be. If you work a game, especially the playoffs, you should know the rules. They got together and discussed so if one guy knew the rule on the crew they could have made the correct 15 yard call.
Ended up being huge to the game's score as Seattle scored on the bomb to Kearse on the drive that should not have happened. SF should have been awarded a set of fresh downs.

SF blew it with the turnovers but the officiating was piss poor throughout, with some questionable calls on both teams and the two obvious misses going against SF. I hope the SB has a better team, it would be awful to see a botched call decide the game.

Welker at one point must have really ticked him off. Strange thing to hate someone who can catch hundreds of footballs for you each season and then kick him to the curb.

Belichick's charge against Welker is strange on a couple of levels. One, I didn't see it as a deliberate and I question whether a player who is one concussion away from retirement would initiate such a violent collision. Two, making a charge like this, TO THE PRESS, is very out of character for Belichick. He gives them nothing juicy in his press conferences. It is almost a trademark at this point. Go listen to the Rich Eisen podcast (great listen always, by the way) from the summer where he breaks down Bill's press conference following the Tebow signing. He gave the press nothing that they wanted that day. To lash out like this in that forum is strange. Very strange.

However, it did cross my mind that the reason Bill Belichick is so sure that hit by Wes Welker was deliberate is because Welker suggested doing something similar while he was here. That is one scenario that would explain this.

two weeks between conference games and superbowl is way too much. I tend to ignore all the news, hype, and buildup in these two weeks, it just gets out of hand and it probably won't be a great game to watch.

I think Peyton gets Super Bowl number two and then rides off into retirement on top.

He is still 17 TD's behind Favre on the all-time list so I think he will be back ... plus he will get a shit-ton of more money.

Guessing your team didn't make it. #1 offense vs #1 defense sounds like a great matchup to me. And Vegas odds have flipped a bit and there isn't a clear favorite which sounds like a great matchup to me. But then again, my team's playing so I'm biased. Go Hawks!

I have to admit that I like the idea. Not because I'm from NYC because I can't afford tix anyway. Just because I love the grittiness of a snow game. It would benefit the Hawks because the two teams style if play but Peyton has benefited from a done so many times that I find it okay.

Had the Niners made it I would have bought tickets and gone. Went last year down in New Orleans.
The thing I was trying to reconcile (outside of the price for the tickets of course) was how I would feel if the game took place during a blizzard like the one that hit Philly for the DET game earlier this year....(I know people who were at that game and from up top they said they really could see what was happening at points) OR...more likely, how I would feel if it was 5 degrees out and windy. (Like it is today.) Pay all of that money to sit outside in that shit?

These games belong in warm weather/indoor stadiums. When tickets cost thousands of dollars each you just want to be able to enjoy the experience!

I have sat outside for single-digit games before. It is not a pleasant experience. Factor in the prices of these tickets...I don't think this is an experiment we will see again.

Agree. They are fun for a regular season game or even a playoff game. I've been to plenty, including the Det @ Phi snowbowl this year and the NO @ PHI playoff game. I would not want to sit through that for a Supper Bowl, if I ever get the chance again. :))

Yeah, I've been to plenty of brutally cold and snows Bears games...it is not fun. I'm sure all the rich, corporate types will enjoy sitting in the cold next week. :))
