Walk to the Meadowlands?

We're staying at the Hampton on Paterson Plank rd. Mapquest gives it 1.67 miles - an easy walk, but is the area an okay walking area or is it highways? (We walked from the Hilton to the Meadows in Hartford so we're pretty flexible about where we walk).

  • you have to cross a highway...its not an easy walk unless you cut threw the race track area but that takes you a long way around the complex

Yeah, I really don't think there's any pedestrian route in and out of the meadowlands. You'll be walking on the highway.

Rt 120 ... the distance isn't a problem but there are sections with no sidewalks. You could walk THROUGH (not THREW, duh?) the racetrack but who knows where that'll drop you off.

The worse part will be walking back at midnight. Yikes.
Everything has chains, absolutely nothings changed.

Jane, baby, get a cab! Pearl Jam is easily my favorite band and I've put myself in danger over them many times, but its not worth becoming roadkill. 1.something miles? I'll cover the $4 fare.

Usually there's a lot of people going back so I usually feel safe in crowds.... but iif its deserted back highway, I'll just take our car and tolerate the traffic jam after....

Jane, I just got back a few hours ago from the MeadowLands..

A few words of advice - leave EARLY - it's not too hard to find - but if you're going for the first time it can be tricky.. and if you leave early enough you can park in the lot next to the Arena - as opposed to by Giants Stadium which is across the highway.

    Have a great time!!
Last night's show was one the best I have ever been to - I'm sure Sat. will rock too!!

I got there at about 6:15, and was able to park in the lot next to the arena. Felt bad for those who had to walk back over to the stadium.
  • Actually, It is deffinitly possible to walk. I go to many NJ Nets games (at CAA) and we always park across route three. It is easy to cross over - there is not too much trafic and its all going in the same direction. Also I do believe there is a traffic light but it is a little out of the way. Good luck!

If you can avoid walking, it might be worth it...that highway is nasty

I did manage to park right by the stadium, as I got there about 5. I'm glad I didn't walk just this once. 120 is busy enough with no sidewalks, plus I had my 12 year old with me (though she's pretty game herself). Seeing the amount of people going up the ramp to the other side made me glad I got there early - we were back in our room about 20 minutes after the show. I had to stop a couple times and ask people which way to turn to get back to 120 though. My sense of direction isn't good.

Jane, did you and your 12 year old park right by the walking tunnel thing? in the handicapped spots (relax people, they were told to park there) We were tailgating I think I saw you. Thought it was cool seeing some young kids being brought to a PJ show instead of some crap out there. ON the other hand some poor guy brought like 5 kids with him by himself, that I thought was not so good. If that were me, I'd probably lose like half of them.

I think we were somewhat near the tunnel thing. Yes they did send us over to that section(22B), and we were somewhat behind the handicapped rows, with no handicapped signs on our row. We both had the dark green tour shirt on. 5 Kids to one guy would be pretty brave (or insane!). I keep my one kid close by at all times. She was willing to go out from the floor to the lobby area to get a drink of water by herself, but I don't let her. She has been to 13 shows with me now, so she feels comfortable at PJ shows - she laughs at me for making her take the cell phone if she goes out of the hotel room to get ice but I make her. She has told me she appreciates being exposed to good music and loves PJ almost as much as I do.
