I’ve read with amusement the letters lamenting people’s cell phone use in cars, theaters, restaurants and retail establishments. I work in retail and encounter it every day: customers too busy with their call or text to even acknowledge my greeting.
Cell phones have created a selfishness in people. Their “emergencies” are more important than you are.
What did they do before they had a phone in their pocket everywhere they go? It isn’t just young people, who’ve never experienced waiting until you are home or at the office to make a phone call. Many of the offenders clearly are old enough to have learned manners.
The cell phone has created Generation Rude.
