I've got $$ to spend on an iTunes voucher from Xmas ad am not sure what to spend it on. I'd like to buy something fairly new. What do people suggest out there!? Any help or feedback on any new albums would be appreciated. I've heard some good reviews of fleet foxes, my morning jacket, foster the people, the decemberists, and mastodon. ????

I didn't buy many albums at all during the year. Foo Fighters - Wasting Light, Tres Mts, Ed Vedder Ukelele songs, Hamilton PJ boot, some individual songs from iTunes, nothing much else really. That's why I'm sort of interested in hearing what other people bought and liked. I'm aware there lots of different tastes and opinions out there!

Ampersphere - Blue Amperience
nopp, never happened to me
Seriously? Rico, for shame.
Fleet Foxes, MMJ, and Mastodon are all wonderful groups.
To the OP... here are my suggestions, and I might list some that I just think are worth having and are not necessarily new:
Vetiver - The Errant Charm (2011)
Viva Voce - Rose City (2009)
Ryan Adams - Ashes and Fire (2011)
Dawes - Nothing Is Wrong (2011)
Screaming Tress - Last Words (2011)
Tom Waits - Bad As Me (2011)
The Twilight Singers - Dynamite Steps (2011)
Mark Lanegan - Bubblegum (2004... it's older, but holy crap... it is AWESOME. You could hold out for his new one coming out Feb. 6th which is sure to be another great release from him.)
Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell - Hawk (2010)
Male Bonding - Endless Now (2011)
Junip - Fields (2010)
Jeff Buckley - Grace (1994... again old, but seriously... you are selling yourself short if you don't own this. You might be able to find it for a cheaper price.)
Booker T. Jones - Road To Memphis (2011)
Blitzen Trapper - American Goldwing (2011)
6/12/08 - Tampa, FL
8/23/09 - Chicago, IL
9/28/09 - Salt Lake City, UT (11 years too long!!!)
9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1
9/04/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 2
Also...
Heartless Bastards (all---new lp out on 2/14)
Head & the Heart
Iron & Wine-Kiss Each Other Clean
The Decemberists--Hazards of Love
Liam Finn--FOMO
That should get you started!

Excellent additions. Especially the recommendations on Heartless Bastards and Iron & Wine's latest record might be the best one yet.

9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1
9/04/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 2
the one prior to that, in 2010 titled "The Big To-Do" is also very good...
I'm a big fan though and would recommend their entire catalog... they're definitely a band that has a hard time putting out a bad record.

El Camino is great.

The newest Fleet Foxes, My Morning Jacket, and Wilco are really strong albums! I'm not a fan of Mastadon or Foster the People...I've heard the new decemberists and liked most of the songs off of it for the most part, but still need to find time to give it a few more listens. The songs I liked, I really liked so I would definitely check them out if you want to listen to something new.
..also the new Dawes and Liam Finn's FOMO are all excellent. The Black Keys - El Camino is also good and definitely worth a listen. If you like slower folk music with beautiful harmonies, check out The Civil Wars. It's a Male/Female duo and I think their debut album was really good.
it will be wrapped in the FLAG and
carrying a CROSS.
