I've got $$ to spend on an iTunes voucher from Xmas ad am not sure what to spend it on. I'd like to buy something fairly new. What do people suggest out there!? Any help or feedback on any new albums would be appreciated. I've heard some good reviews of fleet foxes, my morning jacket, foster the people, the decemberists, and mastodon. ????

I didn't buy many albums at all during the year. Foo Fighters - Wasting Light, Tres Mts, Ed Vedder Ukelele songs, Hamilton PJ boot, some individual songs from iTunes, nothing much else really. That's why I'm sort of interested in hearing what other people bought and liked. I'm aware there lots of different tastes and opinions out there!

Male Bonding - Endless Now (2011)

    Junip - Fields (2010)

Excellent additions. Especially the recommendations on Heartless Bastards and Iron & Wine's latest record might be the best one yet.

Drive-By Truckers released a great one in 2011 too, it's called "Go-Go Boots"

the one prior to that, in 2010 titled "The Big To-Do" is also very good...

I'm a big fan though and would recommend their entire catalog... they're definitely a band that has a hard time putting out a bad record.

The newest Fleet Foxes, My Morning Jacket, and Wilco are really strong albums! I'm not a fan of Mastadon or Foster the People...I've heard the new decemberists and liked most of the songs off of it for the most part, but still need to find time to give it a few more listens. The songs I liked, I really liked so I would definitely check them out if you want to listen to something new.

..also the new Dawes and Liam Finn's FOMO are all excellent. The Black Keys - El Camino is also good and definitely worth a listen. If you like slower folk music with beautiful harmonies, check out The Civil Wars. It's a Male/Female duo and I think their debut album was really good.
