Any Etsy users here?

Hey Hey! A few friends and I recently started an Etsy shop since we're all craft, carpentry, art, vintage enthusiasts and I thought I'd share our store here to get a little more national/international exposure (is that ok, Kat?)

Anyone else sell on Etsy? What have you found to be the best way to sell stuff? I feel like we've been getting a lot of hits and no sales. Our prices might look high but our profit margins really aren't.

(This is why I've been MIA lately)

Congrats on starting your shop! I'm loving the vintage stuff especially :)

I just celebrated my shop's 4 year anniversary on Monday (http://bdrawn.etsy.com).

As for selling stuff, promotion is really where it's at. If you have a blog maybe feature certain pieces, scope out the competition to see how you compare in pricing. Adding new merch always helps too. Whenever I renew an item or add something new, it shows up to the whole Etsy site and as a result new people find your shop.

If you have a Facebook or Twitter account to follow, be sure that's in there. They have that new feature where you can add the links to them right at the top of the page.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the advise Chiqui!

Your stuff looks great too. Added to my favorites :D

My gf/business partner has a few friends with big followings on Etsy and the hipster blogosphere... we're hoping they'll endorse us a bit to get us going. Other than that I've just been doing my best to add a couple things every few days to keep up our exposure.

You have any experience doing craft fairs and such? I figure things might sell better through something like that where you can see things in person.

    Thanks, and likewise! :)

That is good to have some endorsements like that, it'll get your shop's name out there. I haven't done any craft fairs yet although that is something I do want to pursue. If you have any cool flea markets out your way, maybe getting a table where you can have your vintage stuff along with some art, and then some cards to lead folks to your Etsy shop. You can give people a heads-up on FB/Twitter if you're gonna be at a craft fair/flea market, build up even more interest.

Doing sales help too, you can do a promotion where if people follow you on Twitter or FB they can get a special coupon code.

Sorry for all the follow-up questions

Is this fairly easy to set up? I havent seen anything that mentions this... but I wanted to do a big sale for our 1 month anniversary. Is this something I have to do through fb or through etsy?

    No sorries!

You can either do a coupon code, which you can do within Etsy (you would just have to promote it so people know what it is), or do a sale of everything in the shop (either a percentage or free shipping, that kind of thing).

For the latter, I've used http://www.etsyonsale.com/, which is how I did my anniversary sale. You tell it how long you want the sale to go on, and it''ll mark everything down for you, and then restore it all to regular pricing once the sale is finished.

FB/Twitter is best for letting people know when you have new items up for sale, keep 'em in the loop :)
