I know this probably shouldn't go in this forum but I wasn't sure where else to put it, my apologies. I am having an issue with some vinyl playback and was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and/or has any suggestions
I've noticed on some vinyl (mainly newer ones) that some songs or parts of songs seem to not sound as clear, almost static-y or distorted, mainly just the vocals, and it happens on certain newer vinyl on the tracks closest to the center of the vinyl. I thought maybe it's he antiskate could be doing something to cause it, but I played with it a little with no luck. I don't really think it is my system because most of my vinyl sound perfect. Sme vinyl I've noticed it with include some of the foo fighters recent reissues, mmj okanokos, and incubus monuments and melodies.
Any ideas or thoughts?

One time I did notice a little bit of a build up but not always. I just think its weird that it's only a select few records that this happens with. All of my older stuff sounds perfect, it's just a small handful of mostly newer stuff. I can never figure it out and it drives me crazy ha. It's not super noticeable, but I notice it and it drives me nuts and it's one of those things where once you hear it, you always hear it
Definitely give your lp's a good clean with a discwasher and give it a listen, that's probably the easiest place to start. It is strange that it is only happening on your new vinyl though.
Edit: I just read this on an audio forum: http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/archi ... 14444.html
I am just glad you are alive!!!!! Have fun in Key West.....
That's a great piece of info and makes sense. I've been experiencing the same things that the op explained too, with inner tracks sounding staticy, espesially on newer vinyls. So is there a remedy for this? Is this where the speed adjustment comes in? I only ask because I have a fully automatic turntable, and have no way of adjusting. If being able to slow the records down a little helps, I would consider getting a fully adjustable turntable to fix the prob.
Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. Case in point- Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti. Ten Years Gone is the last song on side 3.
The Needle mooves faster because the grooves are closer together. Slowing the platter down will slow the song down... this is not what you want.
You need a better turntable that can take high-end cartridges. If you google, you will find that this gets out-of-hand quite fast.
I am looking into this cartridge...
