I get chills when I go near this memorial. It's either (a) a past-life issue, or (b) a reaction to a well-executed memorial.

Chelsea48, that is one of the most interesting directional signposts ever! And yeah, it does look very, very cold
A few months ago I noticed that on the beach where I regularly walk, there were a lot of rocks that appear to be worn into crooked hearts. I've collected a few of them recently.

This is the best picture I ever took in my life. So many ways of looking through the lens over the past 30+ years of taking pictures resulted in this image. I realized that only I could take this particular image.
The Vietnam War Veterans Memorial is perfect in what it sets out to do, but by taking this picture I realized that more was at stake. I couldn't look directly at the memorial without participating.
I remember I couldn't take a picture of this memorial in 2004 because when I put the camera to my eye I felt like a voyeur. However, because of this project, and because of training my camera eye over the past few years, I hope it resulted in my representing my favorite memorial respectfully.

Ms Haiku: Your Vietnam memorial ones are stunning. That is a very powerful monument; it gave me such chills and a real feeling of awe being near it. When did you take those pictures? It's pretty amazing that there weren't any visitors while you were there. It is just like it was waiting for you.
Stuckinline: Fantastic shots. The fire one is pretty impressive. I had to go a check the lyrics out for that song Love the guitar one as well.
Went for brunch today with a friend. As we were driving by this park we noticed white foam everywhere. Someone had thrown laundry detergent in the memorial fountain (and I swear it wasn't me!). Right away I think "soap makes you taller"! I think I walk through life seeing PJ (et al) lyrics

I took the images of the Vietnam War Veterans Memorial on Tuesday, earlier this week. Most of the images except the Breathe one were taken as a result of this project, and within the past week.
On that day it was kindof overcast, and about 2 p.m. It was during the work week, and not a prime vacation time. I think that's why there were hardly any people.

I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on
I wish I was a sentimental ornament you hung on/ The Christmas tree
I wish I was a sailor with someone who waited for me
I wish I was the full moon shining off your Camaro's hood
I wish I was the souvenir you kept your house key on
Like I said earlier, I think I'm always taking pictures with song lyrics in mind.

We can keep adding to it. I love the ones you all put up so far!
I have honestly been far too busy this week to go anywhere with a camera so I've almost completely missed the window for this week. :?
