I have a friend who is into singing music by like Aretha Franklin, whitney houston, Regina Belle, and lots of soul music. Really powerful voice, and just has a cheapo mic that she just kills. Any thoughts on a reasonably priced mic that would be PC compatible?

Hey, I think this is exactly what your friend is looking for.

  • It would help to know what kind of budget you're working with, and what the use is (YouTube videos, or recording karaoke-style stuff, or whatever). But ultimately, you're going to get the best possible results if you purchase both a professional mic and a proper mic preamp interface. Having a proper preamp will make all the difference in overall recording quality.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

    I agree with Deep93.

It is a usb mic that sound ok considering its price.

I mean the ideal set up here would be an Alesis 2 channel mixer with a Rhode NT-1A, You dont need a pre amp unless you plan on doing live stuff. But that Samson Mic i suggested earlier is perfect for someone that just wants to get a good recording sound without having to bu a mixer and mic set up, which would also mean learning to use a mixer and buying XLR cables.

  • Rode NTK for female and under $500 or NT-1A if the NTK is too expensive
