Before the band comes on stage and before the master/slave ten song, what music is that they are playing? what band? I really really liked it.
i heard it in antwerp - verona and milan, so i think its the same music that they use in every venue of this tour?

thanks for the help!

  • In Prague before they took to the stage a song came on that i really recognised but just couldn't place - it's just come to me now, I'm pretty sure it was the Theme from Last Waltz by The Band (and from the show/film of the same name). It's quite a slow 'delicate' song that has a slight European feel to it(!) and starts with an increasing drone (not too unlike neil young's waiting to fly...). Anyway, I can't remember if this was the last song before they went on stage or not but maybe it's the one you're thinking of? Would hate to think there was any particular significance to it though - think I'm just being paranoid now...!

I think it's "Alice wading" by Dirty Three. I've heard it before every Italian show I've been too (just before the master/slave intro) and I love it. It's beautiful. I didn't know it but I discovered the title by reading an Italian board. :-)

  • I'm glad someone brought this up as I had been wanting to make up a playlist of those songs.

The same songs were played at every show and went for a good couple of hours (as 10C we got in about 6.00pm every night and we had nothing better to do but sit down and listen to the music until the opening band came on!).

There was definitely some Wolfmother - there was also Ben Harper ("Both Sides of the Gun") and some Rufus Wainwright and PJ Harvey that I wasn't able to identify by name.

They also played one of the PJ instrumentals from TB2000 - can't recall the name of it just now but I'm sure someone will let me know.

I'd be grateful for any info people have - if I can't make it to Athens this weekend I might see if one of the people on the ETB can ask one of the PJ crew for the details.

i think it was Harmony, i'm not sure since I downloaded them, and the names were fucked up, so i'm not sure wether I got it right or not...
  • One of the songs is "Auto Rock" by Mogwai, from the "Mr Beast" album. And another of the songs is PJ Harvey, though I have no idea what it is called, but I recognised her voice. Hope this helps.

  • I didn't really notice to be honest. Kinda blocked it out as I didn't much like what ever was being played prior to them taking the stage.

They played quite a bit of Dirty Three before the Vienna gig. There's no singing with them... good band.
