I don't know much about the positive or negative ramifications either way...I should probably read up on it a bit before I make a decision.

    fuck gambling, legalize weed
  • Ill bet ya $100 it will never happen.....

    Oh wait...
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
  • I would love to be able to legally wager on sports. Betting at casinos I don't like my odds.
I know if it was legal my gambling would get out of hand.Betting on sports gets stressful if you watch the game.
The days that I won would make me happy and prompt a spending spree.
The days that I lost would turn me in to a grouchy, depressed, and cash strapped person.
I guess make it legal. It boils down to personal responsibility

+: You can win a quick buck, or start up your own business and create more jobs

-: More privatization and less regulation will lead to more schemes, fraud, and odds out of your favor, more addiction/abuse will cause rises in theft and people stealing from their own families, more loan sharks which then gets you into murder and torture.

This could happen anywhere and for anything though? It all comes down to personal choice right? We have Vegas, Reno, Atlantic City, The Riverboats, Indian Casinos, etc...why not open it up all the way? Demand will drive business. I just want convenience. No one has to gamble...as no one has to drink or smoke, but those are legal nationwide? I could google you stories of people murdered for booze, smokes, sneakers, etc. too but those won't be outlawed anytime soon.

Nah, the way it's set up right now protects more than it restricts.

Weed on the other hand restricts more than it protects.

Casino gambling is pretty much everywhere these days with all the exceptions that have been given. is there a city in america that you are more than an hour or two away from a casino anymore?

only issues for gambling to be legalized are sports betting and online poker. sports betting should 100% be legal because the numbers being bet illegally are staggering so what's the point in keeping it illegal? and i can't understand why the the NFL and other leagues have opposed it so much in this country. they are losing out on a way to make millions per year on it if they can take a cut.

online poker i'm on the fence about. i used to play some before it got shut down but i honestly never trusted the sites. i always thought pokerstars was a bit fishy to be honest. i think it will come back legally in this country in the next few years though.

In my opinion, the only reason sports betting is restricted right now is because of past sports betting scandals like the Black Sox. I think there is a fear that allowing sports betting nationwide will create more bookies and that will lead to a greater chance of a bookie trying to fix games. That's why the NFL, MLB, etc. oppose it. Personally, I think it would be ok if it was left up to the states to decide for themselves. Not every state would legalize it, but many would jump at the chance for increased revenue. If the states ran the sports betting themselves instead of licensing casinos or individual bookies to do it then those states would probably wind up with a revenue source and it would eliminate the threat of bookies fixing games (unless a state had a very crooked governor).
