The $16 per is crazy, but not surprising in the least. Percentage wise it is not that bad. I have bought $15 tickets to shows with $9 charges on them. Ticketmaster is a fuckin joke.

I noticed today for the first time that they have "premium seat" links for the VH shows where they separately sell good tickets at very high prices and their excuse is that they want to give fans a real opportunity to get the best seats without having to use broker sites. Basically they just want to get the money that flippers would charge. Good for them if people use it I guess, but shit..less opportunity for people to pull those tickets through the regular on sale. TM has front row seats at the garden listed for $2500 a piece. Why shouldn't people have a chance to get them through normal channels for the original face? TM is such a friggin scam.

In any case, enjoy the show.

yeah, the premium seat this... they were doing row 1 for 895... 2-10 for 595... and 11-20 for 395 so, with that being said, row 13 for that price is ok i guess. you get a "oreshow backstage tour" lolol with the "premium."... too bad nobody will be back there when you get to tour an empty back of the venue.

i agree. all this front row best seats at $2500 a piece, "golden circles", "premium bullshit" and whatever else are good for Madonna, Metallica or U2 type of deal. makes me want to throw up, that regular fan is made to pay two and half grand for a ticket in front row. where had the days you had to run to the barrier gone?

enjoy the show, though! while you still can.... afford! ;)

Like it or not, technology and the secondary market have driven this sort of a pricing structure. It's a bummer for sure, but I'd much rather see that money going to those involved in putting on the show versus a professional middle man.
  • In 1981 I paid $100 for a front row for Police and REM.
A month later I paid 6 bucks to see U2 in a bar.
This june for the Roger Waters Wall Tour some front rows are available for $900
I paid $800 to see PJ in Toronto. Seats were close enough to reach over and shake hands with Cameron Crowe
It sucks paying big bucks for tickets, but there is always someone who will.
These prices seem like a bargain compared to $2500 for VH.

i guess the bottom line is these prices are grossly blown up. no matter who can you shake hands with if you reach long enough:)

You got your tickets right? I assume you didn't have to hit refresh all day? Is ticketmaster suppose to give away their services? We've seen what none to little service charges gets us. I'll pay the ticketmaster service charges if it means I don't have to sit at the computer all day.

I saw that Van Halen were charging $395 for their cheapest package (which guaranteed you a seat in the first 20 rows). I got mine for $164 (including service charges) last night on the Facebook pre-sale and scored 22nd row.

Because VH is legendary, Sawyer, period. You wouldn;t want to see them... doesn;t surprise me. There are other bands that some of us grew up with. We cherish those days and might want to see them one time before they cash out. Pearl Jam wasn;t around the first 16 years of my life, so... I had to listen to something. I LOVE FUCKING KISS TOO!!! There are other bands out there... imagine that bud.

Also, these were on sale at TICKETS.COM, not ticketmaster.

Did you buy them online? I'm finding at some venues they only charge face value if you go to the box office and get them. Paid $178 for Chili peppers tix and that was face value only. It was $214 online with service fees.

I wasn't talking about the VIP packages. They have those as well. I am talking about a link on the right side of the page for "official platinum seats" If you click the link it shows the actual section, row and seats, kind of like on stub hub. VH VIP pkg for front row was $1295. The platinum seats in row 1 are 2495.

    What are Official Platinum Seats?

Official Platinum Seats are premium tickets to concerts and other events made available by artists and event providers through Ticketmaster. They give fans fair and safe access to some of the best seats in the house.
Are Official Platinum Seats resale tickets?

No. Official Platinum Seats were not purchased initially and then posted for resale; they are being sold for the first time through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster's Official Platinum Seats program enables market-based pricing (adjusting prices according to supply and demand) for live event tickets, similar to how airline tickets and hotel rooms are sold. The goal is to give the most passionate fans fair and safe access to the best tickets, while enabling artists and other people involved in staging live events to price tickets closer to their true value.
Why can't I buy Official Platinum Seats for certain events?

Currently, Official Platinum Seats are not available for all events. Be sure to check back often as new events are continually being added.
    How are my tickets delivered?

Depending on the event, Ticketmaster offers TicketFast® or standard UPS ticket delivery options. In some cases, will call may be offered or required. Learn more about TicketFast®.
What is the Current Price per ticket?

The price you pay is the original price of the ticket. Official Platinum Seats were not purchased initially and then posted for resale; they are being sold for the first time through Ticketmaster on behalf of the artist or event provider.

Other amounts or fees may also be included in the Current Price, or may be added on top of the Current Price. If additional amounts are added on top of the Current Price, they will be displayed on the website before you complete your purchase.

yeah, I've found that out too, but it seems like you don't get as good seats not going through online - but I could be wrong

yeah we're pretty high up, but I wanted my parents to go with me. (They are big chili peppers fans) It was my Christmas gift to them. Bought the last pair they had. Wish I could have gotten better seats, but didn't have money as payday was opposite week of onsale. I'm glad I was able to get 3 for face.

Van Halen is playing the same arena and seriously thinking of going. Tix haven't gone on sale for that here yet though.

The only time I've ever bought at a ticketmaster vendor instead of online I had way better seats than what showed up online, but that was 10 years ago. I bought them the day before the show so it could also be very different than the onsale time rush.

I don't think I've ever had good tix pop up when trying for a major band at an arena type venue when I've tried at the onsale times. It's always been upper levels at arenas or back of the pavilion for amphitheaters.
