    Wow... read the blog - that conversation between the parents and the doctor & social worker is shocking. Her mental capabilities being the sole reason for rejection is quite vile. I would understand if there were other major health/physical issues, but her mental state?????

    As a person who has kidney disease I find this utterly disgusting. To arbitrarily hold a person's life in the balance because you feel they lack the requisite intelligence to have a transplant is shameful. I certainly know that when my kidneys give out I don't want a doctor to arbitrarily deem that I am unworthy of saving. If the transplant could save this kid's life and there are no other risk factors involved the doctor shouldn't have the right to deny treatment. What ever happened to the hippocratic oath?

    I guess it's okay to do harm to patients so long as they are mentally handicapped.

    I signed and shared as well. Although, if I were in that mother's shoes, I'd tell that doctor and sleazy social worker where they could go and then I'd bring my child to a better hospital.

    Aggggh fucking hell

    I'm proudly a fighter for organ donation, I've encouraged a few jammers on these boards to sign on for donation of their organs. It's something I'm very proud of . That maybe I could help save just 1 life. To give somebody the chance to live .
    But these fuckwits think they have the right to choose who lives and dies.
    These poor parents.
    My daughter one day will need a set of lungs. I live in hope that she will be able to breath deeply.
    Hope is powerful. I KNOW
    I cannot fathom how they are feeling when that hope has been robbed from them by a board
