So I just ordered the re-mastered release of "Wish You Were Here" (Amazon) and pre-ordered "The Wall" (Soundstage). I have read good reviews on the sounds of these new releases, anybody else take a listen yet? As cool as it would be to have the original pressings I'll be happy with this, I would like to have original pressings but really I can only find those used and it's always a gamble for what you pay. PJ is the only band I have forked over some heavy cash for original vinyl..

I've heard nothing but bad things about the sound of both reissues so far. Kinda expecting the same for The Wall. There's tons of Pink Floyd vinyl on ebay for good prices or have a little patience, so you can check for quality in person. DSOTM-Final Cut are all pretty easy to find.

I'd try to go with original pressings, aside from DSOTM. The 30th Anniversary reissue, by most accounts is THE version.

I've actually read great things about the reissues, especially Wish you Were Here. I've been wanting to pick that up msyelf. One reviewer compared the reissue to the original pressing and could hear very, very minimal differences and commented it was just as good as having the original pressing. Enjoy!

Just like this thread, I have read a lot of contradictory things concerning the reissue. I want them on vinyl but given the contradictory information out there right now I'm gonna wait till the whole thing is worked out. People's first reaction to things like this tend to be over-the-top.

Where do you get your reviews? The reviews of Wish.....are all pretty bad over at acousticsounds, which in my experience has pretty spot on reviews. People aren't playing around over there.

I know most reviews I've read are saying the 2 released thus far come from digital sources. I'm not saying they sound bad, but there's much better out there. Why spend $30 on that when you can probably get 2 better sounding older presses.

There's people out there that know much more about vinyl than me and I'm far from an audiophile, but I have a hard time trusting most reviews, b/c I've been burned. I assume since vinyl started a resurgence there are probably alot of people that don't really know what the hell they're talking about when it comes to comparing different presses and the like.

I know my 30th Anniversary DSOTM sounds like practically nothing else in my collection. The guitars practically sound more "in the room" than when I plug in myself and try to rip through Time. There were some QC issues, but mine was flat and I cleaned it up before I ever played it, which took care of any pops that others were experiencing.

I have the Wish You Were Here reissue and it sounds amazing to me. Plus it comes with a poster and some other little things which all look pretty cool.

Various forums, but I don't remember which. I did some research a while back when I was wondering whether I should add Wish You Were Here reissue vinyl to my wishlist.

Went to the store to pick up the Wish You Were Here reissue last night and it was sold out. Found The Wall in the used bin though. Rebuilding a collection for my son, I sold mine off years ago, and the Floyd stuff seemed hard to find. Managed to find DSOTM and Meddle used still looking for Wish You Were Here and Animals.

I just got the Cd, because i wanted the live stuff. I still have my original releases on vinyl that i bought in the 70s! (wish i still had the posters, stickers etc that came with some of those albums)

I wish they would have released a soundboard from the 77 Animals tour. Animals might be my favorite; disappointing that they didnt release any extras for that album. Only boots I have from '77 are audience recordings, though Oakland sounds pretty good.

I got my Floyd albums in the 70's, and i thought they sounded GREAT at the time. I aways thought Floyd was ahead of ther time(as far as sound quality goes) and had the best sounding records. I would be SURPRISED if the re-issues were not that good.

Is Animals hard to find? The store I shop at almost always has a copy or two in stock.

I was suprised to read above about any of it being real hard to find. Meddle has escaped me, but I've got old copies of DSOTM-The Wall and I've probably seen every copy of Final Cut that they ever sold. Got most of mine for really reasonable prices too. The Wall was $30, but it was absolutely mint and I'd rather pay that much for an older copy than probably anything new they could put out.

I picked up Meddle not too long ago and I've seen copies of that at the store quite often too. I can keep an eye out for you if you'd like me to. I might be heading there tomorrow if I get some extra time.

I have been enjoying the reissue cd's recently. I purchased those that weren't in the Shine On box set from '92. I think they are all pretty decent. At least you don't have to worry about inconsistencies. The WYWH and DSOTM sacd discs are amazing if you are into multichannel mixes. I have alot of Pink on Lp, but it doesn't do much for me. I have a decent set up for cd, so the difference between digital and analog is minimal. Mostly preference. :)
