yeah thats what i thought when i bought tix to see them at the bowery ballroom. turned out that night evan decided to revert to old form. it was a total waste of my time. and they didnt even play ray.evan seemed more interested in amusing his sidestage hangers on. very disappointing. i hope you get him on a good night.

oh and did i mention he came on an hour late. at one stage he had me so disgusted i went downstairs to drink and only resurfaced when i heard the band on stage(theyd been absent while evan tried to convicne us he couldnt go on that night due to a sore throat. he did this by, yep you guessed it, singing more than a few songs and not getting off the stage. dumbarse.  ) . id give him another go though despite the bullshit.

These guys are playing at a really small college club on FSU's campus (where I also saw the Meat Puppets a few months ago) and I was thinking about checking them out, but the only song I think I know by them is that cover of Mrs. Robinson. Are they worth checking out?

tho mrs robinson is the best cover of all time, a quick tour of youtube will give you some idea whether youd like them.

I think I probably will. I'm going to check out its a shame about ray first. I'm assuming they are still playing the album in it's entirety?

Yeah, don't let the negative comments dissuade you. When he's on, he's on and it's a good time. Just make sure the venue has a bar... and bring a friend to talk to during the wait.

oh yeah, it has a bar, but it looks like if I go, I'll be going solo. Not good if there's long wait

evan seemed sober, his performance wasn't bad at all. i thought his drummer sucked, and having a guy sing juliana's parts is never a good idea, but when it was over i was still happy i made the drive. stove and skulls were the only songs i hoped for and didn't get, but he more than made up for it with different drum, frying pan, left for dead, all my life, tenderfoot and all the good songs from come on feel the lemonheads. no mrs robinson or luka, but i didn't want em anyway. we even got a 2nd encore after the house lights and music came on.

Good for you. I hope Evan is in form for you. I saw them in a club gig in Germany in their heyday and it's one of my all time favorite concert experiences. I saw him (with another guitarist) locally a few years ago and it was one of my most disappointing. Please update us with your thoughts on the show.

Will do! I actually had a dream last night about the show. The Lemonheads took forever to come out on stage and then Evan's voice sounded horrible. Probably just in my head because of all the mixed reviews online about them. I'm hoping he has a good night tonight, too

Fun show. Evan came out and played about 5 or 6 acoustic songs by himself before the whole band came out and did the It's a Shame About Ray album. Then for the encore they played about 3 or 4 songs. Good show. Evan didn't show any emotion at all - pretty much just stood there all night, eyes closed most of the time. He said a very quiet, montone, "thank you" after each solo acoustic song, but nothing towards the crowd during the whole band performace.

We met the drummer in the bathroom before the show. If I remember correctly, he said he has been with the band for almost two years - I could be wrong about that. He seemed to be pretty stoked about playing. The guy that I went to the show with asked Evan for a quick picture as they were going off the stage and he grumbled a quick "no" and just kept walking. He didn't seem to be too happy.

Overall, we had a great time. It was a short show - probably played for a little over an hour, which didn't bother me since it was on a Monday night.

Glad you enjoyed! Was curious about the set list, so went looking on setlist.fm, but it's not posted yet. However, to show you how fickle he can be, here's a set list from last week... http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-lemon ... e91bc.html

I actually pulled that setlist up yesterday. It looks like I got pretty much the same show minus Evan's second acoustic solo set - which I would had loved to have seen
