Warning Disturbing Content: Tibets Desperate Cry for Help

China has oppressed and tortured the gentle non-violent Tibetan people for decades. The people of Tibet are tired of this injustice.
Due to their beliefs that you can't fight hate with hate, they have begun to take desperate measures to raise awareness of this oppression they endure from China. This cry for help has turned some nuns and monks to perform a selfless act to scream for attention for the world to wake up!
I received a letter about a nun named Ani Palden Choetsu who in a selfless act, covered herself in gasoline and set herself on fire in the street. This disturbingly brave act is not a single incident. There have been other monks and nuns go to this extreme, sacrificing themselves in the name of non violence, they have chosen to be violent against themselves to save others.
If we stand by and do nothing. If we don't care to watch the video because it's just to tragic to think about, then we too by turning away from the truth, we are allowing a powerful and greedy nation to pick on some of the most gentle beings in Earth whose request is their freedom to live peacefully in the way they choose.
If you sign your name to the pledge to stand up for Tibet's freedom, there is no money to be given, all you are giving is your pledge to become aware and have compassionate awareness for these peaceful people who believe in love not hatred.
China's behavior has gotten out of hand.
I imagine we don't need to go to war to stop this horror, there are other ways to put pressure on the greedy. We could consider a way to stop this behavior by not buying what they are selling to the world anymore. The millions of items that are basically crap that end up polluting the Earth anyway, like MacDonald's toys or beads for Mardi Gras, or Chinese finger cuffs...what in the hell are we doing? We waste precious resources on shipping useless shit all over the world and we don't need it.
Does the world need to also do a selfless act and ask themselves what they would be willing to live without as to collapse their power and not feed the machine of hatred. I don't know the answers. I'm not big brained genius. I just know what makes me furious, is when someone is bullying someone who can and will not defend themselves in the name of proving love is more powerful that hate and that hate breeds more hate.

That's a bit of a stretch.
Not if you look at the air quality in cities like Shanghai. Why do think people wear masks? The Chinese are killing off forests in the US and the rest of the world because suddenly they prefer wood over their normally garish decor. Delve a bit into the purient world of animals who are illegally captured, sold on the black market in China and slaughtered because someone thinks that consuming testicles or penises will make them more virile. I guess it all depends on what your values are and your preferred standard of living for yourself and generations to come.

I think you'll find if you can manage to look beyond your hatred of the Chinese that Americans, representing 4% of the Worlds population, are responsible for 25% of the Worlds pollution.
As for air quality, I've never noticed poor air quality in Shanghai in all the times I've been there. How's Los angeles doing on that front lately?
As for the Chinese killing off forests in the US, do anything to support that statement, or did you just make it up?
And as for garish decor, when was the last time you stepped inside someone's house in China?
She said 'The Chinese are killing and torturing everything in our world...They poison the skies, deplete our natural resources, kill off endangered species...They have no care for anything of beauty or sensibility, only their greedy souls...the China of today is monstrous, seeking only self-gratification.' This is just racist, hateful bullshit. I was being polite when I said it was a stretch.
And Mao died in 1976.
Mao's war against the environment lasted for approx 3 years. This was between 1958 and 1961. A lot has changed since then.
How many animal species is America driving to extinction? Looks like quite a few:

Now tell me what this has to do with the Chinese occupation of Tibet?
As it is, a lot of those people live in China and- though fewer in number- the problem persists at least as badly if not more in the U.S. because we use and pollute more per capita. And plenty of other places are contributing to the problems. It's a world wide problem.
But wasn't this thread about the plight of the Tibetan people? Can we get back to that?

But like everything, this situation should be looked at in the proper context and with a better understanding of the history of the issues.
Also in more recent times, the role the US played with regards to Tibet and China. Also taking a look at Tibet before the Chinese 'invasion'. Tibet was corrupt, the power was controlled by the hypocritical holy men/ dalai lamas and warlords.
The Dalai Lama (14th) and his company were CIA backed. The Idea that they were just non violent is a western media myth. Anti China/communist Propaganda.
Anyone read the declassified state department documents released in 98/99? One can see for themselves how the CIA had hand picked Tibetans train up in Colorado. CIA paramilitary operations in Tibet.
How the Tibet government in exile started off as a CIA/US backed anti Chinese tool used for propaganda purposes. Still is today.
I have even more issues when people speak about justice and not hurting people, then keep friends with people like Augusto Pinochet, Bush and a list of other corrupt characters.

I don't hate the Chinese people. In fact, as I mentioned in my original post, I have admiration for Chinese philosophies, religious tenets and art carried forward from the past. The majority of the Chinese people of today have no choice but to knuckle under to what the government mandates. Those who engage in black market activities and the elimination of many animals in our world are more than likely a combination of elitist individuals and underworld figures the composite of which exists in every country of the world. And by the way, I have disdain for many governments, not just the Chinese government. It's not race-based whatsoever. The Tibetan people are neither, to my way of thinking, and as I said earlier, my heart goes out to them.

This thread was about Tibet. So I was curious as to why it descended into a rant against the Chinese in general. It was made to sound like the Chinese were an exception in terms of endangering wildlife and the environment, which they aren't.
my heart goes out to anyone who is oppressed... no matter where in the world they are.
only their greedy souls???? wow i guess there is nothing in your household bearing a made in china label.. if that is that is the case then i commend you on your sourcing skills. the china that exists today, exists so we have access to cheap products.... so that the fatcats are able to sit atop their ever expanding wallets. we sought china out as a source of cheap products.of course` they were only too happy to oblige.. why wouldnt they be?? theyre well on their way to over taking the Us as the most powerful nation on earth. it is abhorrent to me that you paint the entire country of china as monstrous and only interested in self gratification.
it is also paradoxical to me that the pilgrims ran from oppression and yet the united states today has a heavy hand in supporting the oppression of people around the world.

i just need to say
they need educating thats all.
i recently watched a programme on the poaching of ivory. it showed that quite often the chinese people who avail themselves of the remedies and potions made from ivory are told that the taking of ivory does not result in the death of the elephants. they believe this cause it is what the are told. they believe that just like teeth grow back, so too do tusks. it needs to be shown to them that the elephants give their lives for the ivory. i think if this is done then in time they will turn their backs on anything made from poached ivory.

So based on your line of logic, they need to be "educated" that eating penises won't make their own "dicks harder" as it was so aptly put. I hardly think that education is the problem, or the solution. Once again, the word selfish comes to mind. How do you say Viagra in Chinese?
And by the way, I never said that the US was utopia, I was simply making observations about China in conjunction with what their government has done to the tibetan people. I don't care if the CIA or the Ku Klux Klan helped the H.H. Dalai Lama. He is worth helping, in my opinion. And before someone goes off on another rant, I'm not racist or against the well-being of afro Americans, nor have I have condoned support or given support to the KKK. I was being facetious.

Love the irony. Why'd you start comparing America to China then? Hahaha that is priceless.
AS for the topic at hand, wait, what was the topic again? China? America? Mao?
How does this save others?
It doesn't. It can raise awareness, but in the long run, people simply don't care.
Instead of being violent against themselves, they should use violence against the oppressors. Violence works. Plain and simple.
Because I took it that the person denigrating the Chinese for anything and everything was American, so I thought I'd give a dose of perspective. But then you already know this.
yes. tho i was speaking of the ivory trade the same line of logic goes for the ingestion of penises. but like all superstitions i guess it needs to be grown out of. i hardly see it as selfish.. weird yes.. but then again superstitions are just mind over matter so...
what is your solution then? just take the penises from them. slap a ban on them and impose a fine or jail sentence??? if education isnt the answer, what is?
