Hi. I will give you my shitty theory -

the windowsill is a metaphor for regret. Looking out the window, at the past. It is a super common image used in art to convey same. So, that is my theory. Any help?

Its what i love about their songs. Open to interpretation.

For me the window sill is choice... Which way to go? Like being on the fence. Gotta decide

  • I think it could be about gaining perspective on a choice ...like looking down from a window at your life..

release is my all time favorite pj song :) there's so much powerful feeling when eddie sings release me...
  • Thanks folks, I was thinking along the same lines. Although I'd be interested to know if there has ever been any official meaning from the Band. Cheers

contemplation of suicide, should he jump out a window basically

    which way to go....windowsill

he is talking about releasing himself from it all....makes perfect sense

    Thanks for that. :)
I'm not sure about the contemplation of suicide, maybe just a choice of 'where do I go from here', but what the hell do I know. ;)
  • The son is singing the song outside of his Dad's house, at night - hand against a tree - looking in through the front windowsills - he can see his childhood rocking horse and has mental timeworpmorph about how that feels

    i like this interpretation
ive always thought of it as his dad visiting him as a spirit.. "ill wait up in the dark for you to speak to me" there are more lyrics that point that way if you believe in that sort of thing i spose :)
